I thought it was a lovely ceremony.  As a Catholic, most funerals I've attended were funeral Masses or memorial services.  I enjoyed the candid comments.  My rubbernecking instinct wishes they could have identified some of the people in the front row.  I'd read the Johnson girls,  and Tricia Nixon Cox were scheduled to attend.  I would think they would have been sitting near Caroline Kennedy and Stephen Ford.

It was never a secret the strained relationships that existed in this family.  I thought Patti Davis spoke eloquently.  Ron Reagan was more emotional than I expected.  There were moments when it seemed he had to catch his breath or he'd break down.  What I did notice was the visible distance between the siblings as they walked behind their mother's casket.  He had his hands folded behind his back, she had hers folded in front. It made me sad.

I saw patti on the news, probably cnn, comment that when the casket was brought to the library, she did not know why ron was not there, seems like a stressed relationship between them.

this family is very complicated  and only they are privy to all -  maybe being without the parents will draw the 2 siblings closer.  it is a strange and lonely feeling to be without parents.

Whatever she wanted, I'm glad she's getting it. Aside from her politics, she seems to be in a class of people that are vanishing, and that is sad. I know little about her except what she demonstrated when her husband was in office. They don't make them like her anymore. Very classy and dignified if personal life reflected public .

All that matters is that's what she wanted. I'm not having a funeral, viewing, nada.

Didn't Patti write a book years ago and trash her mom and dad? My memory might not be correct. If so, it's understandable that Ron would not have been too happy with her either. I know Patti said that she and her mother mended fences somewhat over the past years, but it was still strained.

Maybe Nancy and Ronald were too opinionated about their kids lifestyles but I don't understand why adult kids can't just let it go. It's your parents. Seems like you could just respect that. Why write a book and air it all out there?

Patti was very opinionated, against what her parents thought,i remember her from years ago. I wonder what her and ron do for a living? They won't have to worry about money matters now.

I am amazed  that people would pick apart a funeral.

RIP Nancy Reagan.

From what I can remember both children were staunch democrats and at the time they were very vocal about being against their fathers policies.  Especially Patti.  I think she was a handful at the time, Ron not too much.  I did see he recently endorsed Ted Cruz, that was a shocker.  I was wondering where his older children were.  His daughter Maureen and son Michael.  They were both very visible during his white house years.

Maureen Reagan passed in 2001.
