The First Time You Saw the Internet--What Did You Think?

Oh my goodness I remember it so well!  I saw it at work, in the very early 90's and I felt like I had seen someone make a fire for the first time.  I was stunned.

I understood the impact that would have on life, and the impact on the world.  It struck me like I had just seen writing or an alphabet.  It was hard to wrap my head around it thinking about all the possibilities from "letters" to commerce to news, and the breadth of communication.

I would never have thought it would happen so fast and be available to so many so soon.

What did you think?

Had the Net at work then added DSL to my home and it opened a whole new world for me

@SharkE LOL!  I remember asking "what do you mean it's FREE?"  How does it come to your house if it's FREE?  How is the connection made?

It still puzzles me some days!  LOL!!!

I first encountered the internet at work, at first I was resistant ( I hate change ) , but when I saw the possibilities, I was a fan.

[ Edited ]

I remember how painfully slow it was!  (AOL)  But I thought that was the norm...

I would wake up in the morning and look for for emails from my oldest who was in the Navy halfway around the world.

I remember I would sign on and go take a shower and by the time I was done, it would be *booted up*.

Each step took forever.

I remember using the mouse (which I still use!) and looking on the wall if I couldn't find my curser on the screen....lol  (like it would be projected on the wall next to monitor)

At work, I never went on the internet, we were supposed to just stay on our company's system.  But everyone was goofing off on the internet all day it seemed.

When Sept. 11th happened I actually asked someone how to get me on the internet.  They were shocked I didn't know!

Remember the dos strings needed to print?  Then we had to gather around THE printer to see who won the race.  Good times.
