Ha! Funny. But I'm sitting on our patio right now and just saw two Monarch butterflies!

Re: The First Sign of Spring?

@Sooner  Sorry to disagree. We get our best snows in February - that is, when we aren't in a snow drought like the last two years. Smiley Mad My garden is hoping for a regular winter to kill the bad bugs, etc. and get the ground ready for Spring. That being said, we will have early harbingers of spring that will probably appear in late January, like winter aconites.

Re: The First Sign of Spring?

49 days til March 1!!!!

I know we can still get snow and icky weather in March, but the word "March" sounds SO much better than "January" or "February".....and my birthday is in January and I STILL dislike the month!!!!

O well.....six months from today here in PA we'll be whining about 95 degrees and humid....so there's that!!!

Icky snow/rain/wintry mix here today....next week will be brutal cold...then hopefully the upswing to spring will start...I've seen robins here in NW. PA in February in past years.....

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Once spring arrives in Arizona (and it only lasts a couple of weeks) another long hot miserable summer of staying indoors from May to October is not far behind. We celebrate winter.

@Meowingkitty

It still amazes  me at age 67 that in this ONE country, the climate can be so different!

I think MOST people can agree that the "spring" and "fall" of the year, whereever they live, is the most clement.....

I like where I live...four distinct seasons......Just when you think you're going to lose your mind in the current season, it changes to the next!!!

But for here in W PA, WHY does the cold dark winter seem to last for 11 months?!?!?!?!??

We feel that way about summer in Arizona. Seems to last forever. Winter is all to short.

@Meowingkitty OK.  You have us beat!  Spring here is usually "the one day" between the late snow and ice storm and the tornadoes and crank up the air conditioner days.  You get two weeks!  WOW!  Woman LOL
