So what DO you believe? And can you tell us who IS always right? Honest questions. I am interested in alternate beliefs.
I believe in what proves true for me and not washing your chicken is not one of them.
until it doesn't. Absolute truths are really not absolute.
That little ditty about medicine just proves to me that we have a long way to go with educating people. Some may never want to accept science and will ignore any good health guidelines.
Then you missed the whole point of what it was saying. It is science or medicine that is making these claims. What is good for you today turns out not to be good for you tomorrow so how trustworthy is that?
Science deniers are certainly prevalent nowadays.

Science is continually learning new things ~ that has nothing to do with being trustworthy, but adjusting when new facts come to light.
We used to think that the sun revolved around the earth ~ now we know better. I will trust that science is a learning field and whether we choose to follow their guidelines is up to each individual ~ but that does not mean it is untrustworthy.

I don't deny science but I do understand it is not a perfect science, unlike some people.

I'm pretty sure I'm not spreading germs all over my kitchen when I rinse my chicken under cold running water. And if I am, I'll continue because died yet. My mother did it for 60 years and she didn't kill any family members either.
I really wish people would read the info from the post/article.
Times have changed. We NOW have antibiotic resistant salmonella. It is making people sick for up to a year.
Your mother and my mother didn't have that to deal with.

And that has nothing to do with whether you wash or don't wash your chicken.

Sorry if it seems like I'm interfering, but this isn't really about washing chicken or not washing chicken, or science vs. non-science. It's about a company that had to recall it's chicken because it has antibiotic resistant salmonella. If it's a strain of salmonella that's resistant to medicine, then it might also be resistant to washing and maybe even cooking.

Yes, it is. I just emphasized that.
And it's only a matter of time until it's not limited to chicken.

Bleach kills salmonella even the antibiotic resistant strains. A person only has to worry if they ingest the bacteria.

Wash chicken, don't wash chicken, use anti-bacterial soap, don't use anti-bacterial soap, etc. it gets too confusing. Even though I do clean my counters, I stopped washing my chicken. The heat from cooking should kill off the bacteria. Maybe we should all start raising our own chickens.
And some of us might want to avoid Foster Farms for awhile
There are also warnings for bleach from the CDC, it can be dangerous and do harm, also.
And then there's a debate about what type of cutting board to use: wood or plastic. There's been some research that wood can have natural disinfectant properties, but it still has to be thoroughly cleaned.
