Re: The Annual Christmas Card Counting Thread

I have sent 85, many retirees from my job (I still work) and extended family. Some of the older friends have no computer access.  I have received 55 back.  I don’t care if I get them back, but so many, that is my yearly contact.  I still enjoy the tradition, and it warms my heart. Try to put a short note in many.  Get several photo ones back.

Its a dying tradition for sure.

Re: The Annual Christmas Card Counting Thread

I think its kind of sad that alot have just stopped sending cards.  Its not quite the same to get facebook or email holiday wishes.  I understand though.  I have sent a few cards out that I know wont send but Im ok with it and it doesnt bother me like it used to Cat Embarassed

Re: The Annual Christmas Card Counting Thread

I think one reason I sent out cards this year is to make this holiday season seem a little more 'normal' to me.  Writing notes and sending Christmas cards is becoming a thing of the past.  I want to keep some old traditions alive.

Re: The Annual Christmas Card Counting Thread

I think my final total sent was 72, and as of today I have received 61.   I expect 3 more, but they are coming from CA and never get here until after Christmas.

Re: The Annual Christmas Card Counting Thread

We normally send out about 20 (I think a lot of people do a generic greeting on Facebook now) and received 19, which is more than we've received in the past 2-3 years. I think a lot more people are sending out holiday greetings this year. I also got 2 phone calls from cousins I hadn't spoken to in a long while as well as cards from some we hadn't communicated with in a long time. It's nice to receive greetings through the mail for us oldsters who still value getting a card.
