Re: The Annual Christmas Card Counting Thread

I used to send out and receive 25-30 cards every year.  And I wrote a note inside every card I sent.  Those days are gone!   I haven't sent out any cards the previous 2 Christmases.  This year I sent out 8.  Received 4 cards from people I didn't send to.  Isn't that the way it goes?

Re: The Annual Christmas Card Counting Thread

I love the tradition of Christmas cards so I sent out 25 or 30 cards this year.  Honestly, I was tempted to just skip it but I am glad I did not.  Psychologically it has been important for me to maintain my holiday traditions.  I was going to say I hardly got any cards (can you tell I am a little dispirited)  but I have received about 15 so far.  I was not expecting much as many folks either cannot get out to buy cards or are trying to save $$ this year.  Some folks described their year; all I can say is my family has been lucky.  Time to count my blessings!  Thanks for starting this thread, it cheered me up!

I had moments of not wanting to send any but then gave in. I got half of what I sent out.Isn't it strange how that happens.

I always feel bad if I get ones from those I didn't send to. But then I thank them or call or send one too thanking them.

But you can kind of tell when some send you one cause you sent them one.

But there are some I always love to get and love to send to also.

The card connundrum, and I guess it shouldn't be.

I feel the same as you!  I just sent mine yesterday - mostly family and a few friends.  I feel funny if I don't send any.  I think it's nice to go to the mailbox and see some actual nice mail instead of ads or junk mail.  I'm sending to siblings this year because we won't be seeing them for Christmas.

@HLP  and @deepwaterdotter  I also sent out around 25, and have received 13.  I expect a few more in the mail today and tomorrow.  I never send expecting one in return...I just truly enjoy the process of choosing pretty cards and writing little messages in them to people I care about.

I have a hard time throwing them away after Christmas....usually I hold onto them for at least one more year, then  toss....I have kept a few, like the last one from my grandma and my mom from many years ago.  Just seeing their handwriting touches my heart.

Sent 22. Got 16 back, plus 2 professional (financial guy and newspaper carrier). Some of the siblings don't ever send cards, but DH says if we mail to one, we should mail to all.

Re: The Annual Christmas Card Counting Thread

I stopped sending them a few years ago. Just lost interest, and ran out of time.

I still get a handful of personal cards, but most of them are from charities that I donate to or businesses that I deal with.

Re: The Annual Christmas Card Counting Thread

Love pretty cards. I sent 25 and 2 were to elderly aunts who are unable to reply. So far I have 19 cards on my window ledge. Pretty good. I can no longer send handwritten notes. After about two notes my hand get cramps and then goes numb, so I made my task easier using my computer and printer. I printed the addresses on sticker labels, typed a half page note (sans bragging) and added a line or two in my own hand. Once I had the letter ready to go, it took no time at all.
