That great thread on being "sanctimonious" was deleted? Why? Does anyone know? Did it go south?
I'm so glad I copied it to my journals. There were some wonderful posts on that thread.
Deb1010again, I hope you copied it before it was poofed.

i didn't see what eventuality transpired. we can always guess. not many threads last long here. because of varied dissent. so it is good to not expect threads to forever last here permanently. this is based only merely on what i have seen. (-:

Ford, I didn't copy it. It disappeared like many threads seem to do these days. It's OK. I enjoyed the thread very much and there were many good stories shared, the most poignant being yours IMO. Thanks again for sharing. People here can be nice and supportive. It's refreshing to see. I can't imagine that it got contentious. But it must have.

That thread was a thinly veiled attempt to disparage fellow posters whose views didn't agree with the views of the OP. It morphed into a whine about family members, employers, and anyone else posters disliked.

Ford, I think we found our culprit. LOL

I hadn't looked at that thread for days.
Given that many threads are and do what OR said that one was and did, I believe what she said.
Those things never end well.

Good example of posters who disparage fellow posters who disagree with their personal view.
Just FYI, I have never and will never report a post or thread as inappropriate because I strongly believe in free speech.

Make that plural "culprits." There were two different conversations going on in that thread, but the serious posts outweighed the snarky ones, I thought. I am so glad I copied it. I still have to do a lot of reformatting and deleting (the snarks), but it is worth it. I wish I could find a way to get it to you.

In my first post on this thread which precedes your incursion says "people here can be nice and supportive." You called my original thread a "thinly veiled attempt to disparage fellow posters"... how is that not a personal slight. You are guessing at my motivation without any supporting evidence.
I spend a considerable amount of time on these boards. I wouldn't do that if I didn't like the people here and generally enjoy my time here.

I'm not denying that you like some posters nor did I mean that you were disparaging all posters, just the ones whose views you dislike.
You asked in your thread about handling sanctimonious people but included your method of dealing with them. So, what exactly was the purpose of the thread? You weren't looking for help/opinions since you answered the question yourself.
The very fact that it was about sanctimonious people was an invitation for posters to rant about disliked others and they came out in numbers. Now your trying to play innocent or obtuse, take your pick.
