Re: Thanksgiving at the Back Fence

Well, my colonoscopy didn't go so good. First of all. The Dr. Said I coughed,gagged,spit up through the whole procedure. it was from my acid reflux. I now have sores all over my lips. for the first time ever I had polyps. He could not get them all because I was not "cleaned out" enough. Yes, I did the prep correctly. So, I have to have it repeated in two to four months,with a double Prep!!!!!!!! I am soooo annoyed. plus he wants to do it in the hosp. So I can have anesthesia,and be suctioned if I have acid reflux. that also means I will have to have another in a few years,as opposed to the usual ten years. just soooo not happy with health issues this year. can't say I am looking forward to turning 70 . sorry for another " woe is me" post. THAMKS FOR LISTENING LADIES,YOU ARE ALL GREAT!!!!

Re: Thanksgiving at the Back Fence

Holy Mother of God Epi, what was the doctor thinking performing a colonoscopy outside of a hospital outpatient setting? I gotta tell you, I had my first colonoscopy a month before my 45th birthday and it was in the outpatient department of the hospital.

I am so sorry that your doctor didn't exercise common sense or look at your history to determine the most appropriate setting for your procedure.

For what it's worth, I did the prep correctly too. I drank that gallon in record time as directed before noon. I waited for HOURS before anything happened. I was actually afraid I would have an accident on the table the next morning it took so long to kick in.

Well, I guess I don't have to ask you how your Thanksgiving was. That stupid doctor got your GERD going and you will pay for it a couple of days now {#emotions_dlg.angry}

When is your birthday? Month and date. I only have Freddie's birthday. The rest of the Fencers are a mystery Smile

Re: Thanksgiving at the Back Fence

Epi, so sorry about your colonoscopy problems; sounds like a real nightmare. Seems like with your health history he should have considered doing the procedure in a hospital setting. My doc also has a facility away from the hospital and I've had two or three with no problems so I'm doubly thankful for that having read what you experienced. I can't believe that acid burned your poor little lips. Bless your heart please feel better soon.

Bird mama, did you get your lights strung> Do you ever buy any decorations from the Q? I've never bought any big ticket items from them, but have purchased several things from Valerie Parr Hill. I'd really like one of their pre lit trees, but I wouldn't be able to store it and the job would fall to Jim and he already has so much to do I just wouldn't want to give him another job that isn't absolutely necessary. We actually have a nice tree that's not pre lit out in our little storage building, but for the same reason I don't ask Jim to get it out. Ah, me this getting old and limited in what one can do is not the most fun thing, but I am truly thankful for what I do have and what I can do and the fact that I have such help from Jim that I have no right to complain.

We had Mexican food after attending our worship services today. I had a combo of fajitas which included baby shrimp, beef and chicken. It was sooooo good, but I couldn't eat very much. It looks like I brought as much home as they served me. But it will be eaten either tonight or for lunch tomorrow. Jim had a take out box too so there will be left overs from the left overs.

Happy Sunday night last day of November! Sue

Re: Thanksgiving at the Back Fence

I used to put up a tree and string the lights and then husband would put on the ornaments (I tend to cluster the same style together - lol). The year he died, I didn't bother with Christmas - I had surgery that December and really didn't have the heart for it. In 2008, I picked up a tree that I'd swear is just under 3 feet. It's pre-lit with multi color lights and is one piece, just plop that baby in the stand (lol). I think I caught it on sale for like $20. I guess nobody wanted the runt of the litter (lol).

It was lovely outside yesterday and I did get my lights up. It's nothing grand or fancy but it does add some cheer to the neighborhood.

I haven't bought any decorations from the Q yet. I have many older ones that I tend to put out year after year. I try to pepper some Christmas in every room of the house, even if it's just a nick-nack.

I have my eye on 2 nativity sets at Hallmark. Saw them on Saturday and think I will have to buy them. I have been making my long coffee table in the living room the "Jesus" table with various nativity sets. I like sets that look unique and I am thinking of keeping one of the new ones out all year long - figure it would be good to have that reminder. When I buy them I will take a picture and post them here. I can't find pics of them online anywhere. Maybe they are available in the store only.

My birthday is August 23rd - turned 52 this year.
