Thanksgiving Day's Positive Thread

If you look for the light side in all things, you will keep yourself alive
and healthy.
Lord, may I be able to see the good in my experiences, even in my most
challenging
moments.

Scripture for the day:

"We are not among those who shrink back and so are lost, but among those who
have faith and so are saved." ~Hebrews 10:39

Meditation for the day:

There are two things that are most helpful if we are going to change our way
of life. One is faith, the confidence in things unseen, the fundamental
goodness and purpose in the universe. The other is obedience: that is,
living according to our faith, living each day as we believe that God wants
us to live, with gratitude, humility, honesty, purity, unselfishness and
love. Faith and obedience, these two, will give us all the strength we need
to overcome sin and temptation and to live a new and more abundant life.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may have the kind of faith that helps me be obedient. I pray
that I may live a more abundant life as a result of these things.

Hello my friends! First off I wish you all a very Blessed Thanksgiving as
we all give Thanks to God for all His blessings - we do it here daily, but
on this day everyone does it with us. Thanks to our God - and all He's
given us, our family, our friends, our everything, even pets, of course,
come from God! I am sure as we all are hurrying about and getting
everything done for our Thanksgiving meal and having a lot of people over
etc, we still will stop and give Thanks to our God Who made this all
possible.

Thanksgiving Day Thoughts

What is Thanksgiving day all about? Yes eating turkey, mashed potatoes,
gravy, cranberries, pumpkin pie and visiting with family, friends and loved
ones. But that is only part of it.
Thanksgiving is a day to find a quiet moment or room and just take some time
to think or recall all the good things and times to be thankful for during
the past year. Some things that come to my mind right now is to be thankful
for a job (good or bad), family, friends, good times and yes for life.
What is thankfulness? That depends on more than what we have. It’s realizing
where our blessings come from. Thankfulness is gratitude, a response to
someone who has met our needs.
God’s goodness ought to be the deepest source of our thankfulness.
Everything we are or possess is because of his loving kindness. Therefore it
is good for all of us to pause at least once a year and say a big Thank You
to God.
Are you thankful that the best thing in life - Forgiveness, Assurance, Peace
and Joy are still free? Why? Because Jesus paid it all when he died for you
and me on the cross.
What better time is there than Thanksgiving to tell God: “I’m sorry for my
sins, believing we are sinners. I now repent, I trust Christ as my savior. I’m
thankful for his mercy to me.”
Now that you have some idea of my thoughts of Thanksgiving, take that spare
time you may have today (even if it’s only 5 minutes or less) and call,
write a letter or even a note and let them know how thankful you are of
them, whatever the reason may be.
I promise you this much, when the day is over and done with, you will feel
good about yourself. You will have made someone feel special and made their
day a little better also.

P.S. Feel free to pass this Thanksgiving day thoughts on to whoever you feel
needs it to brighten there day.

During the Second World War, Winston Churchill was explaining to a prominent
Frenchman why the British seemed so inactive and unwilling to fight.

"We are like a lobster," he said. "At certain times of its life, the lobster
loses its protective shell. During that period of molting, even the bravest
lobster hides away in a crevice in a rock. He waits there patiently for his
new shell to grow. As soon as it is hard enough, he will come out and fight
with anybody.

"Well, England at this moment, due to some of its imprudent ministers, has
lost its protective shell. So we just have to grow a new one. A time like
this is not wise for action. Our time will come, when we have grown back our
shell and are strong."

The moral of the story is that it is sometimes wiser to run away than to
stay. If certain people always make you angry, avoid them. If some place
makes you sin, avoid it. Courage is not recklessness. There is no virtue in
running risks. God's grace is not meant to protect the foolish but the
prudent.

Discouragement

Once upon a time the devil decided to go out of
business. He offered all of his tools for sale.
He attractively displayed the whole bad-looking
lot: Malice, Hatred, Envy, Jealousy.... Each was
marked with a price tag.

Apart from them lay a harmless-looking
wedge-shaped tool, very much worn out, but priced
higher than any of the others. Someone asked the
devil what tool that was. "That's
discouragement," he replied. "But why is it
priced so high?"

"Because," answered the devil, "discouragement is
more useful to me than all the others. With
discouragement I can pry open and get inside a
person's conscience, when I cannot get near him
with any other tools. And once I'm inside his
conscience, I can use him in any way that suits
me best. It is so much worn because I can use it
with nearly anybody, since very few people know
that it belongs to me."

A person is never weaker than when he or she is
fed-up, is down-in-the-dumps. He or she couldn't
care less about anything ... and then anything
can happen - and usually does.

HEALTH CHECK-UP BY GOD
Author Unknown

I went to the Lord's Clinic to have my routine check-up and I
confirmed I was ill.

When Jesus took my blood pressure, He saw I was low in tenderness.

When He read my temperature, the thermometer registered 40 degrees of
anxiety.

He ran an electrocardiogram and found that I needed several "love
bypasses" since my arteries were blocked with loneliness and could not
provide for an empty heart.

I went to orthopedics, because I could not walk by my brother's side
and I could not hug my friends, since I had fractured myself when
tripping with
envy.

He also found I was short-sighted, since I could not see beyond the
shortcomings of my brothers and sisters.

When I complained about deafness, the diagnostic was that I had sopped
listening to Jesus' voice talking to me on a daily basis.

For all of that, Jesus gave me a free consultation thanks to His
mercifulness, so my pledge is to, once I leave this clinic, only take
the natural remedies He prescribed through his words of truth:

* Every morning take a full glass of gratitude.
* When getting to work, take one spoon of peace.
* Every hour, take one pill of patience, one cup of brotherhood and
one glass of humility
* When getting home, take one dose of love
* When getting to bed, take two caplets of clear conscience

Do not give in to sadness or desperation for what you are going
through today.

God knows how you feel...

God knows exactly and with perfection what is being allowed to happen
to you in your life at this precise moment.

God's purpose for you is simply perfect.

He wants to show you things that only you can understand by living
what you are living, and by being in the place you are now.

May God give you...
* For every storm, a rainbow
* For every tear, a smile,
* For every care, a promise,
* And a blessing in each trial.

For every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share,
For ever sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

A SIMPLE LITTLE PRAYER

* Every single evening
* As I'm lying here in bed
* This tiny little prayer
* Keeps running through my head.
* God bless my mom and dad,
* And other family.
* Keep them warm and safe from harm
* For they're so close to me.
* And God, there is one more thing
* I wish that you could do.
* Hope you don't mind me asking,
* Bless my computer too.
* Now I know that it's not normal
* To bless a mother board,
* But listen just a second
* While I explain to you 'My Lord'.
* You see, that little metal box
* Holds more than odds & ends
* Inside those small compartments
* Rest so many of my FRIENDS.
* I know so much about them
* By the kindness that they give
* And this little scrap of metal
* Takes me in to where they live.
* By faith is how I know them
* Much the same as you
* We share in what life brings us
* And from that our friendship grew.
* Please, take an extra minute
* From your duties up above
* To bless those in my address book
* That's filled with so much love!
* Wherever else this prayer may reach
* To each and every friend,
* Bless each email inbox
* And the person who hits send.
* When you update your heavenly list
* On your own CD-Rom
* Remember each who've said this prayer
* Sent up to God.com.
* Amen.
