He died as a result of a long battle with Alzheimer's.

I've never read a book in the DiscWorld series but I know it's beloved.

I did read "Good Omens", the book he cowrote with Neil Gaiman, and loved it. It's madcap fun, funny, utterly original and very creative. Those who have read "Good Omens" will appreciate the clever new change.org petition (link below) started by some fans at the news of his death:

Re: Terry Pratchett has died

I haven't read any of his books yet but I want to. I've read about his books a little bit to sort of get the reference in the link.

Re: Terry Pratchett has died

It comes from "Good Omens" which is quite funny, in a Christopher Moore out-there kind of way. Death is a character, and perhaps in Discworld books too, I don't know, but I'm told they are something like Douglas Adams's books.

Re: Terry Pratchett has died

LoriLori Thanks for passing along the news and the link, although the world is a much sadder place now that I know Terry Pratchett is gone. He ranks up there with the greatest World Builders of fiction, but much wittier than anyone else I can think of. How I'll miss looking forward to his next book.
