Terrier owners....how do you keep them busy??

Over the years I've had several different dog breeds. Currently I have a "terrier mix". Let me just say I can basically count on 1 hand the times I've caught him sleeping when he's not in the crate!! Honestly, he NEVER stops moving.

I really get a kick out of him and love him dearly but while our malamute and sheltie both play hard, they DO stop to rest. Little Black Dog, OTOH, basically never rests unless I put him in the crate.

So...how do I keep him busy and keep him out of trouble? I can turn my back for a second and he's chewing on laundry he grabbed from the bin, or gloves from the basket or a plastic container from recycling!! Arrgh.

Need recommendations for toys and activities. He does go outside to play, however, here in PA it's been very cold and since I got him from the south, he doesn't like (nor does he have the coat for) the cold.
