Re: Teacher Discharges Gun In Classroom, Student Hurt

I wouldn’t be surprised if the number of injuries and deaths among students continue to rise and eventually outnumbers what we currently have.  It’s not like all teachers are completely stable and a picture of perfect mental health.

It’s a terrible idea.

Not the first time, either.  A DEA agent was presenting a lesson on gun safety in a classroom in 2004 and shot himself in the foot.

A few days ago, an officer left his gun in a middle-school locker room: http://www.mlive.com/news/saginaw/index.ssf/2018/03/police_gun_found_in_middle_sch.html

In September of last year, a teacher left a gun in a Texas middle-school bathroom: https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/texas/articles/2017-09-12/loaded-gun-found-in-east-texas-sch...

In October of last year, a teacher left a gun in a faculty bathroom at a Maryland school: http://www.wbaltv.com/article/staff-member-fired-after-gun-found-in-school-restroom/13127088

It's also happened at least  twice this year since the Parkland shooting, once in an elementary school bathroom (can't find the article right now) and has been happening for years.

Thank you, so much.  It's one of those things with Lupus, and we are all concerned about the Lupus reaction to the procedures.  Well, I've weathered worse Smiley Happy

Sadly, I've been posting a lot of these kinds of articles on my personal Facebook page over the years and I remember most of them.

Re: Teacher Discharges Gun In Classroom, Student Hurt

People like to use the Guns vs Cars theory.

”They both kill”, they say.

A car can be used to drive someone’s Nana-Granny to church.

A car can drive someone to work every day.

A car can police our cities.

A car has millions of wonderful uses.

A gun? Only 2 uses.

1. To threaten

2. To kill

It’s asinine to think additional guns in schools can help.

And yes, it’s a matter of time before a student uses a teacher’s firearm

to kill said teacher.  ‘But, But, But....it’s mental illness’. Squirrel talk.

Yeah, many that I know and shoot with are gung-ho pro gun ownership and NONE of them think arming teachers is a good idea. I don't know anyone that does among the gun crowd, including myself.

As I, a teacher myself, I have said repeatedly regarding arming teachers, "What could possibly go wrong here?" And this teacher was also a reserve police officer. I guess he was teaching the do as I say, not as I do method. Good grief!!!!
