Haven't gotten ours back from accountant yet. Last year we payed an insane amount so nothing will shock me this year

Most of us are in the same club. The IRS tells us how much taxes we will pay and that mostly by payroll deductions. And state and local taxes are paid based upon an appraisal system. 

A few citizens tell the IRS this is how much taxes they going to pay. And the same few tell state and local governments how much local taxes they will pay by submitting their own appraisals of their properties.

I got a break on my property tax b/c here seniors get a discount according to income and the amount you owe in taxes. YAY!

same here. only i sold a rental income property.. bought low back in the day, sold at the peak of the market pretty much in Oregon. what they are going to want on capital gains makes me want to cry.

  where is the incentive trying to get ahead, when the state wants it all.

Last June my village taxes doubled, I can't wait to see what they are this June. Add school and county tax, at least they spread them out. Sigh.
