No problem with it. Sugar is proving just as deadly to us as cigarettes. Increase the price to the point that people will have to make different choices in their "snacks". I've yet to hear a doctor or any health provider say "MORE SUGAR. YOU NEED MORE SUGAR IN YOUR DIET."
More fruit, more vegis, more protein....yes. Not more processed junk snack cwap food.

They should tax alcohol before taxing any soda. I am against anymore taxes.

I guess that is fine until they tax something YOU enjoy or like to eat..... The city govenment has NO right to nudge anyone into not eating or drinking anything.

Alcohol is already taxed from multiple agencies.

It's not soda, but I just read an article on smoking dangers and saw a statistic I'd never seen before. That is, a majority of smokers who want to quit say that raising the price does make them smoke less. I'm not a smoker, but having lost a dear brother to emphasyma, I'm for trying anything that works.
Would raising the tax on soda help drinkers to turn to it less often? Is that a good thing?
The billions of dollars we're all paying to fight the obesity epidemic in our country won't go away just because soda drinkers drink fewer ounces, but it's a start - and like any plan, it's going to happen in steps and be an up and down journey.
I know for me it was easier to lose the last 50 pounds I got rid of partially because I no longer drink soda every day - and my sodas were 99% sugar-free! The price of sodas here in Florida tends to be higher than it is on LI. I wonder if that subconsciously affected my decisions? I cannot really say, but I think so.

I'm in WA state but NOT in Seattle, thank God. I hate that city's politics and no, diet drinks are not included in this tax. From what I hear, Costco and others NOT in the city of Stupid-attle are selling more regular soda than ever. Good for them. I don't need the government telling me what to eat or drink.
