Now I wish I hadn't spent the $$ on this.  Yes, it's beautiful.  Yes, I love it!  But I'm so disappointed that it has a blemish on the table and I caused that. If it was a few hundred dollars, no big deal.  But not gonna lie here, I regret spending so much on an expensive stone that is so easily scratched.

Yes...a "heated" stone and 6.5 to 7 on the hardness scale. I'm so sorry this happened to your stone, I feel your pain!

@BobShops Thanks! For a long time I talked myself out of buying a tanzanite because of its price and how soft it is. I guess I should've listened to my inner voice! 😉

Don't be hard on yourself. I did the same thing. I bought "simulated" for a long time thinking that was a much better way to go than spending that kind of money on a gemstone. I broke down though when I found ShopLC. I got amazing deals there. I have not worn any of it. I think that I was thinking "investment" verses actually wearing it. Your post has confirmed my thinking so thank you! ; )

Re: Tanzanite jewelry

[ Edited ]

I have had a tanzanite ring for many. Years. I don't wear it often, several times a year.  It is in 14k, with a few diamonds on side. I spent maybe 1200.  It is fine. Actually I wasn't aware of it could scratch.  I am pretty rough on my jewelry. I also bought my granddaughter one of Judith Ripka small tanzanite rings in 14k for a lot less, and it is like new. However her stone is bezel set, and doesn't rise above setting. .  I will be more careful now
