I wish pajama pants would be banned from wearing them anywhere in public.  The ones I've seen out always seem dirty and disgusting. And might as well add, woman wearing leggings in public that shouldn't wear leggings in public.  My father used to say

"just because they make it in your size, doesn't mean you have to wear it."

This is a tongue-in-cheek post jokingly criticizing all the lazy and sloppy forms of American dress in airports.  They cannot enforce this "ban."

Mainly because in the event of an emergency--your shoes won't be forced off your feet and in the event YOU are a survivor--at least you will be able--if you are able--to walk thru all the stuff on the ground or getting to ground and not injure your feet that could prevent you from being able to get away. Thought at that time, that was a horrendous thing to think about, but made sense. I plan on not flying anywhere --I HATE flying. Crocs are comfy--but would never wear them on a plane.

@wagirl,  in addition to closed toe, tied shoes it was recommended to wear natural fibers such as cotton or wool as they resist melting and reduce the chance of burns.  Synthetic materials are prone to melting increasing risk.

Although I no longer fly when I did I would stick with cotton clothing but shoes were either loafers or sneakers, neither of which were the best idea.

Pajamas and Crocs!

I like the pajamas ban, except for children. I was very surprised at Crocs, which I learned happened a while back. Why Crocs? I don't think they could pose a threat any more than other clogs would.

But, although I do fly, I never have gone through the Tampa airport.  Smiley LOL

@beach-mom  That is the airport I usually use. We are trying to get slippers banned, too.

@Marp  I recall that leather shoes were recommended. Anything with a sneaker-type sole would melt if the plane crashed.

I love wearing sandals in warm weather.  I get a pedi done regularly and have nice looking feet.

However I would never wear any kind of sandal/thong in an airport or on a plane.  They could become a hazard in an emergency not to mention if you had to take shoes off you really need to wear socks!

I always wear easy slip in sneakers with socks.

Re: Tampa Airport Bans. . .

[ Edited ]

As an aside, I'm old enough to remember when people wore their Sunday best to fly in. It was big deal to even fly.   Stewardesses looked like movie stars and people smoked like chimneys.

The Q is always selling their pjs, suggesting they can be worn out.

Haven't heard them tell us to put on some heels and wear them out with your hubby!
