@MaryLamb wrote:@sunshine45 At one point awhile ago, I was a member of that group for about 2 days. I love Christmas and Christmas decor, but the people there were a little too much, even for my taste. Every time I opened my FB, I would see multiple posts from people posting every single thing they ever decorated with or purchased to use for decorating, and it was just too annoying. One guy would post his photos and random thoughts all day long, and he had the worst taste. I had to opt out.
there are four post settings on the page. you can set it for what you want to see on your own facebook stream. it can be set to ALL POSTS, highlights, friends posts only, or no posts. if i dont want to see anything, i click on NO POSTS and can then just go to the page to see what has been posted.
many groups are like this.
I understand @MaryLamb! I am in a particular zoo animal group and the posts were monopolizing my feed. Even when i changed the preferences it was still too much. I just could not believe there were so many people obsessed with this particular animal and a particular park. It was frankly weird to me. So i just hide posts for 30 days at a time i think is the option. I still see posts because tags are not hidden.

@Lipstickdiva You posted the same thing not too long ago, and it still is factually incorrect. QVC has been showing Christmas shows at the beginning, end and middle of the month for at least the past five years. If they’ve shown more or less during some years during that period of time, the difference could be measured in hours, not days. I’ll tell you what I told you last time, which is that for someone who seems to hate CIJ so much, you certainly believe that you have a thorough knowledge of the history of its programming.
@MaryLamb, nothing I said is factually incorrect. I said "not that many years ago." I didn't give an exact number of years because I don't know for sure. But I do know for 100% sure that QVC used to only have x-mas in July programming on the 24th and 25th of the month and then they have been gradually adding more DAYS, not hours, to their holiday programming.
When QVC only had the 2 days of holiday programming, I thought it was interesting and I would watch if I could. When they began adding more and more days, I gave up because for me, it's just too much. Not sure why you're so concerned with my watching habits.

@sunshine45 wrote:raise your hands if you have begun seeing HALLOWEEN displays in stores......including the candy aisles?
@sunshine45, I noticed a smattering of Halloween candy in the grocery store I shop in 2 weeks ago. This past Sunday there was definitely more and more prominately displayed.

Society has destroyed the real meaning of the holiday with it's massive consumerism.
No thanks.
Id like to quote THE GRINCH...
- The Grinch : It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes, or bags.
- Narrator : The the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before.
- The Grinch : Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas...
- Narrator : He thought.
- The Grinch : ...means a little bit more.
SPURT- you clearly missed the ENTIRE point of my post. I said 'I love Chrstmas.' And I do. If you don't realize the mass marketing and consumerism of a beautiful season drowns out the message you are living in a cave. And your post says a lot about you.
You missed the whole point of my post.....
..The meaning and spirit of Christmas is what each person feels deep inside their heart and cant be destroyed by retailers/commercialism.........thats what the grinch learned----
Have you ever even considered the practical side of CIJ....some people like to budget their purchases....Most buy a small token gift just to show appreciation or say "thank you" to friends/family and its wiser and more economical to spread out purchases over 5 months...And some people make these purchases to donate to organizations that distribute to needy families like the toys, throws....CIJ helps people make these early purchases so by December everything is paid up and they dont go into debt .....and then they can take time to enjoy the real meaning of the holidays with family/friends...
.For someone so in tuned to the "true meaning" of the holiday, your remarks are very snarky and mean-spirited to those that like CIJ ....The true meaning of the Christmas season reflects joy, peace and love ( and for some people their faith)...which seems so opposite of what you try to portray---your post says a lot about you.

If outside forces are destroying Christmas for you, tune them out. It’s that simple.
For me, Christmas is special for me because of the memories I make with my family. And I want to create special memories for my grandchildren. TV programming and retail practices don’t affect that.
The ability to stop these things from distressing you lies completely within you.

So Halloween candy is now in stores, generally stores skip Thanksgiving, so what is left but Christmas? Did you see that Harry Potter tree topper Hallmark is selliing? It is great! And I love both Hallmark channels. I'm good to go ...

Totally agree with previous message. I'm sick of Christmas and it isn't even here yet. QVC is just trying to take more of our money. I haven't watched one Christmas item show, and I don't intend to watch any Christmas shows until "I" need to. Stop it QVC

No shopping channel, store or person can ruin or destroy Christmas for me. I enjoy watching the shows, enjoy decorating, but that has nothing to do with the meaning of Christmas. Who even knows when it really was?

I typically don't start shopping until Black Friday so I tend to avoid the Christmas shows. Most of it is home decor and with me living in a small apartment with not a lot of storage space, the last thing I need is more holiday decorations. I will buy those Kringle Express gift bags. That's all I used last year to wrap and it saved me so much time and space.
But if a home shopping channel is destroying Christmas for you...I really don't know what to tell you except to not watch which I'm sure you're already doing. Retailers have been pushing it on us earlier and earlier every year, and with so much competition and fighting for shopping dollars, things aren't going to change, especially when the demand for it is there.
