@Tinkrbl44 I'm pretty much one holiday at a time kind of person. That said if I can get a good deal on a candy that I like, I might buy it.  For instance, I like candy canes (I use them for garnish on a chocolate cake I make for the holidays) so I might buy a package of them early to have them. I had tried ordering the pre-crushed up peppermint for them and since only a small amount is needed, by the next year, the entire bag or container had solidified into an unusable mass.

My major Holidays are :

Thanksgiving

Christmas

Easter

I don't decorate for Halloween, I decorate for Fall with Pumpkins and gourds, etc......I go all out for Christmas Decor, my favorite Holiday..But I have so much, I don't need to buy anything else.

I will occasionally buy something new for Christmas, and I love to buy nice gifts for my family....

I enjoy it and my family appreciates all the time and love we put into it...

@Tinkrbl44 ---Okay.....isn't  that  the very same thing I just wrote!!! I am merely explaining why you see xmas in October and Halloween even sooner----consumers spend heavily at the holidays no matter what the financial situations are---so retail makes sure they are stocked and ready to go.

On my street, houses have decorated for Xmas already. One house has thrown Halloween decoratoion oin with the xmas decorations.

I am 87 and remember when you took one holiday at a time.

Our biggest thrill was the week before Christmas driving around to the blocks that were known for the best Christmas trees in their front windows with the lights on.

Well look at QVC and HSN, Christmas in July.  Stores have the decoration for Christmas out and the cards on shelves.

Not even Thanksgivng yet or Halloween.  Ridiculous.

I decorate for fall and Christmas. As I've gotten older I have cut back on the amount as taking down and then putting away is a lot of work.

The major holidays have become a retailers delight where consumers feel they have to purchase everything and anything to  experience warm and fuzzy feelings.

I don't buy into it.  I don't buy holiday decor, gifts or participate in other activities that clean out my pockets.

I only buy food, the best possible and celebrate with my family by cooking and visiting with them.

You can't buy happiness.

I was in Walgreen's yesterday - the "wall of Halloween Candy" still looks fairly full.

Re: THREE MAJOR HOLIDAYS

[ Edited ]

Way too early ....some had 4th of July decorations out with Easter candy last spring...just too much commercialism...I don't really buy holiday decor anymore...have so much I am usually donating it rather than bringing more home. The only thing I always buy is fresh...pumpkins, candy, mums, etc. I definitely take it one holiday at a time. Way too stressful to do more.
