Parts of So Cal (but somehow never my part, lol) are due for rain starting at 7-8 pm. but it isn't going to be a big deal. Our rains that come from the north peter out before they get here. The El Nino rains will come frim the south, so they say. It's sunny here and pretty, but slightly chilly daytimes and it's been pretty windy.

I hear you, @chickenbutt. I'll be just north of Salinas within 3 months and plan to spend a lot of time in Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel. I love to just sit and watch/listen to the surf. It's like a daytime lullaby.

I have a niece in Alaska who is in the direct path of a blizzard today & tomorrow.

Winds have been a problem here, too, particularly stirring up the coastal regions.  Every year people go out to watch the surf and they have to be warned to stay back, it can be very dangerous.

The Ventura pier was severely damaged on Friday. This guy was on camera talking about how scary it was to try and get off the pier. My first thought was, why were you ON the pier, with waves engulfing it and pilings crashing from underneath it. SMH.

Too bad, CA needs the precipitation.

We will get the rain this evening.  It is on its way.

Don't use up all that rain in your area of North Ca....leave some for S. Cal.

@Noel7@chickenbutt, sorry for your bouts with prednisone. I remember flying to the Midwest to visit my parents and wouldn't have recognized my mom if my dad wasn't standing next to her, due to big doses of pred she was taking. Not fun. I grew up in the east bay, lived as far south as Monterey (ran into Clint early one morning, sigh), and as far north as Redding. College in Chico. Loved it, until I had a very Jungian experience and wound up in the Midwest six weeks later. Never regretted it. Have been back to visit beloved Yosemite. And SF. I was commuting from Moraga when the Caldicott Tunnel had the great accident. Remember? I used to have nightmares of 400' tidal waves when I lived in Monterey. They ended, hah, when I left the west coast. Wish you both well, and blessings of the season.

Re: THE HAIL, YOU SAY!

[ Edited ]

Here in the sunny Southwest,  we had rain from early morning until about noon yesterday. Then late in the evening it started snowing.   I looked outside about midnight and it was so beautiful.   Snowing pretty good,  brisk wind and my big blue spruce looked like a Christmas tree.   There were 3-4" of new snow.  I wanted to bundle up and take a walk but I resisted.   It's all gone now; it sort of evaporates here.

I wouldn't trade this for all the sunshine in Florida.

We are ready for this storm.   Fresh batteries was placed in the flameless candles.   Just incase the lights go out.  About two weeks everyone in the area lost the lights two times during the evening.

@MaggieMack  Do you mean the accident and fire in the Caldicott?  That was horrible, the stuff of nightmares.

Yes, there's always something going on around this area, and always celebs out doing their thing  Smiley Happy  Clint made himself available, that was nice.  I used to bump into Robin Williams often.  The city still misses him and he was a constant presense whenever needed at fundraisers.

@raven-blackbird  People talking about the oceans rising.   So I started a topic about the rising waters.

In your area it has "shark tooth mountian"... I am sure you know this.   So the point is this...in the past the ocean was there,,,now it is fields and fruit trees.... and the ocean is a long ways away.... Santa Maria is close.... so I guess your area will be a ocean again.

The landscape keeps changing around the world all the time.
