Sea Turtle Inc. has rescued 4,000 sea turtles so far. People seem to be busy.

OOPS! This is in Florida. I don't know what to think - the headline for this CBS article says Texas.

@drizzelllaIt is the South Padre, Texas, Convention Center.  It has been opened up to take in the overflow of rescued turtles from  Sea Turtle, Inc., in South Padre.

i know a neighbot's cat froze to death Monday night....a beautiful Maine Coon that she let go in and out to roam the neighborhood as much as she liked. I think it is unconscionalbe that anyone would allow their pet of any kind to be out in this frigid cold we are having.  If it's too cold for a human, it's too cold for your pet. I know the zoo has closed for two days and I worry about so many animals that are not native to such cold temps...I hope they have all been moved into heated areas...but I still worry.

Some people are without heat (3,000,000) and are pretty darn cold too.  Texas government really screwed up this situation.

@Oznell   Also:  Texas Game Wardens are involved.  I'd link but it may poof.  Here is a portion of the article:

Texas Game Wardens assigned to Cameron county rescued 141 sea turtles from the frigid waters of the Brownsville Ship Channel and surrounding bays. The sea turtles were transported via the PV Murchison, operated by Sgt. Game Warden Duke and B/M Bowers-Vest.

Re: TEXAS RESCUE OF SEA TURTLES

ERCOT is who screwed up; hoping heads will roll. I have familiy in Central, East, and South Texas. They are all suffering from having no power, some no water either. One of the assisted living centers has no power and it has been going on ad off since Monday morning...my SIL's mother lives there; she is 97 and due to COVID protocol, they won't allow family to take them out of the center to their own home where they have heat.  The past several days has been surreal.

That's a great picture of the turtles on the ship's deck.  They look like troops.

Some of the rescue turtles are 100 years old and can

weigh up to 400 lbs.

@Oznell  Thank you again for providing a thread about hope and those who do their best to help out during any devastating time.

Hi @Oznell .

I just read that primates in a zoo in San Antoinio, Texas have died.  They were chimpanzees, lemuires and a few others.  In total 11 of them have frozen to death.

This is sooo sad.  Thanks for sharing the story about the Sea Turtles!  Beautiful creatures!

Well, I heard on the news that some people in Texas had been without heat for 44 hours and that was earlier today. I can't even imagine how desperate these people feel.

@gertrudecloset   12 animals perished at the Primate Sanctuary, not at the zoo.  They were found deceased as the workers began relocating the animals to the SA Zoo and to a sanctuary in Oklahoma Monday night.

The animals at the SA Zoo were treated with antibiotics, anti-inflamatory and pain medications and are doing well.  I have no update regarding the animals in Oklahoma.

Just an FYI.
