FEMA is part of today's press conference, and involved intimately in the new initiatives, some of which may be brand new, or some may have been in the works. In any event, it is good news, and will be great, encouraging news to many.
Local, state and federal authorities in many cases have been working well together, and each has such an important, and somewhat different role to play. I've heard a sort of "watchword" that FEMA has worked by, that reflects how the different elements work together, it's something like-- "locally organized, state managed, federally supported".
I think the transparency and information flow that we get through all the entities working on this-- states, feds, and medical professionals, is exemplary and gives the broadest possible overview of all the moving parts.

Respectfully, these threads about the ‘task’ group seem politically primed to me. Going forward I will greet them as such, fair to say responding to them with a different view often results in the tapping of the BUTTON.
I failed to see the transparency you describe. Recounting initiatives started by others (even though they have been up and running for a while) as NEW, is not transparency.
FEMA may arrive and become involved in some projects, I sincerely hope they do, but they are not currently involved, much less intimately. The FEMA Director just spoke abut what they will be doing going forward. I heard no mention of your “watchword” but it is easy to learn how FEMA really does work.

Why in the world was my post about Mary Washington Hospital's having already established a field office in the hospital's adjacent parking garage removed?
The Fredericksburg, Va., hospital community evinced innovative thinking and great initiative. They anticipated a possible need and acted upon that inspired thought.
I viewed the story on the news about three nights ago.

Maybe it was a mistake, I saw it and gave you a heart.

The Mercy is heading to Seatte and not California.
The director of FEMA said the Mercy is going to dock in Los Angeles as California has greater need for hospital beds than Washington.

I am no longer watching the task force briefings. Too many conflicting statements.

Frankly,It's taking way to long for the Federal government to get the hospital ship/ medical stations set up.
The hospital ship due in New York is needed now not in 3 week!! They should have people working around the clock to get that ship on its way!! The longer it takes the more people may die, period.
Where is the sense of urgency??

No, it doesn't seem like state, city, federal are working together well at all.
From everything I heard today, the doctors, hospitals, governors are begging for supplies-masks, ventilators and additional spaces for makeshift hospitals, saying there is not enough and that it is not getting to the hospitals and staff. It was alarming to listen to them.
I also wonder how long all these emergency relief acts will take to pass while some have no more pay checks to pay for food or rent.
If there are not enough supplies now, they are very afraid, there really will not be at all when the number of people needing them escalates.
I don't know where anyone is getting that the private sector are making enough! Or that things are running smoothly.
we can only hope it improves quickly.

Is the Mercy actually on its way. I did hear both ships were having maintenance done

@sunshine 919 Honestly, I wish I could answer your question. I've actually heard several versions...that both ships need maintenance before they can embark and also the mention that some of the crews have tested positive, which is another wrench in the works.
At this point, we have no compass that we can rely on.
