Asking the community if anyone has been on Synthroid and how well they have faired? I began taking this medicine about three weeks ago and I am having so many problems such as restlessness, not able to sleep, muscle aches, dry skin, wheezing and eye pain. My doctor said I was borderline Hypothyroid and could either go on it or not as I had been having fatigue issues. I haven't found this medicine to be helpful and actually making me feel worse, any comment or helpful suggestions I gladly accept.

I think 3 weeks might be the soonest you'd see any side effects if your dose was too high.   I've been on synthroid (the generic) for 18 years.  You should have to go back to the dr within 1-3 months to have your blood checked again.  If it's still a ways away, call your doctor and see if tests should be rerun now.  Your symptoms could be related but could also be related to a number of other things.

Just another opinion.....

If I were borderline, I would first investigate every other option to address the fatigue issue before taking this drug.  Are there other options for you?

This really belongs on the "wellness" forum, but that being said:

I have been taking synthroid for 18 yrs., my mother and sister also took it, and I will take it for the rest of my life   ............  thyroid condition is hereditary!  I have had to have my levels adjusted over the years, but have never had any side-effects from it!

Thanks for the info!

Today I'm going to try the evening dosage for the next couple of months...and just see if there are any changes.

Ooooo....I like doing experiments like this. Smiley Tongue

lol

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

You might want to get your TPO antibodies checked out. You may have Hashimoto's. That's what I have (similar symptoms) and been on Synthroid since 2004. I had no relief of symptoms until a couple of years ago when I went on the AIP/Paleo diet.

Thanks to all who posted.

I have contacted my doctor who has asked me to stop for now to see how I feel. A full blood panel had been done prior and everything was good, but borderline on the thyroid.  If I start to feel fatigued again she might try having me cut it in half taking every day or a full tablet every other day to see what happens. I am extremely sensitive to most all medications making it really hard when I do need them.

I was on it for years and while my thyroid issues were better I felt like I was slowly dying (not an exageration).  I changed to nature-throid and feel so much better!  It may be you can't tolerate the synthroid or the binders in the synthroid.
