This has been a busy week and I'm so glad it's over. I notice that everyone in my family are all taking naps today. No wonder! My DH spent 4 or 5 days in hospital and it turned out his gallbladder turned on HIM.

His surgeon called me after the surgery was over and said, in effect, eeeeeeeeeeeewwww, that thing was in bad shape. Poor hubby, he spent several days in bed here at home; I finally got him to the local hospital and now he's home again, and again sleeping in his own bed. I don't think there's anything more soothing and comforting than to sleep in one's own bed.

A few years ago I hospitalized for a few days (and spent most of my time pleading to be let go). Wow, it was so comforting to get into my own bed and see the trees, and hear the local kids playing, from my own bed.

So please say a prayer or two for my very DEAR husband if you should think of it.

I am sending prayers your way.  Nothing like being in your own bed.

@GoneButNotForgotten

Gallbladders can really turn quite nasty!   Both my girls lost theirs about 8 months apart; one was functioning at 17% and the other at 25%.  They were pretty much living off Sprite, crackers, and grilled chicken before their surgeries.

Once he gets caught up on his sleep, please make sure your husband gets up and moves; he really needs to walk outside and pump his arms, wave his arms over his head to help dissipate the air that was pumped inside his body to lift his organs for a clear view of the gallbladder.  That air moves up and gets trapped between the shoulder blades, making for a lot of discomfort.

Am sure the Dr prepared your husband for the possibility of dumping syndrome.  Anything he eats sends him straight to the bathroom.  Usually this improves as recovery progresses, but your husband may have trigger foods that cause this to continue.

Both of my girls have trigger foods nearly 5 years after surgery.

@GoneButNotForgotten - Of course I'll send a prayer your way for both you and your DH.  You both need to rest, I'm sure.  Let us know how he gets on in the coming days.

I absolutely agree.  There's something so comforting about sleeping in your own bed.

@GoneButNotForgotten

Will say a prayer for your husband's quick recovery and for you as well.

As Dorothy said "There's no place like home".

Happy his surgery went well.

I will certainly remember your DH as he recovers. You are so right; nothing like sleeping in your own bed for pure rest and comfort. A hospital is no place for sleep; it is mostly interruptions all night and all day. I pray your DH feels better soon.

@GoneButNotForgotten - I haven't seen any updates on this.  How is your DH doing now?

Did you manage to have a nice Thanksgiving?  I hope so.
