Susan Smith Sentencing

I didn't follow this trial but Smith rolled her car into a lake with her little boys strapped into their seats. She claimed the ever-convenient black man highjacked the car and stuck to the story for days. She was given a guaranteed 30 years in prison with the possibility of parole at that point. Both cases are horrifying but this one tips the scale to my mind. I don't know if it was a DP case or not. There was abuse by a stepfather.
