Sending you best wishes that you will recover quickly and are able to walk distances once again. Let us know how well you are doing after the surgery.
What other options were you given by your doctor(s)? Only if you wish to reply.

@781Florist It is a very simple common proceedure, very much like heart cath with angioplasty. wishing you a speedy recovery and yes i would take a little bit of inconvenience anyday in order to restore or improve the ability to walk. best wishes.

We actually called it a roto rooter procedure but the technical phrase is angioplasty. You'll be fine! It's a minimally invasive procedure. You just have to get through the procedure and start your recovery. And then you get your life back.
Maybe you can answer a question ... you say minimally invasive, but the OP said a 6 to 8 week recovery ... how is that possible?
Years ago, early 1990s, I had two separate renal artery angioplasties, at a time when they were fairly new. First time they kept me overnight, second one I had to rest for a few hours and then could go home.
What makes recovery time so different if these are both angioplasties?

@Tinkrbl44 My procedure is not an angioplasty. I had an angioplasty on my left leg with a stent implanted and it was a great success. My right leg was attempted twice but was too severely blocked to insert a stent, so now this procedure.
I went into my online patient login and have found that there are 2 things listed for my May 15 surgery.
1) Bypass Graft femoral popliteal artery
2) Endarterectomy Ileofemoral Artery
This is a much more invasive procedure and they will actually be cutting and patching the artery and "cleaning it out" if I have understood it correctly. there is some kind of animal membrane used in this procedure, and there will be a wound requiring observation and attention following the operation. They did say I will be in hospital for 2 days post surgery, with the slight chance of a rehab facility if there are any difficulties. Visiting nurses for a short time at home to ensure no infection at the site.
P.S.---
Every time I am asked by any of my other doctors who is doing this procedure and I tell them, they say "Oh! How did you get him!?" I hope he is in top form on May 15th! He was listed in Boston Magazine's cover article "Boston's Top Doctors".
As I said....God watches out for me!
It's a lot to get your head around, so I just have to let them knock me out and trust that God will watch over me during and after the whole thing........and I absolutely know He will!
