Re: Surge Pricing for Fast Food

Was reading about a bill that would crack down on price-gouging.  Hope it passes.

Wendy's, in a statement to Reuters on Wednesday, said it "would not raise prices when our customers are visiting us most."

Its initiative to add digital menuboards to certain stores would instead allow Wendy's to offer discounts to customers more easily, "particularly in the slower times of day," it added.

"We said these menuboards would give us more flexibility to change the display of featured items. This was misconstrued in some media reports as an intent to raise prices when demand is highest ... We have no plans to do that," the company said.

@Marp Thank you for the accurate story.👍

@LyndaGee What bill and where?

I am asking sincerely because our state already has an anti-gouging law.

Gouging isn't about hamburgers; it is about sellers raising prices just before, during, and after a disaster.

During the pandemic hand sanitizer was selling for $250. Amazon had to pull it off the website. Just an example.

Or a store raising prices on groceries, fuel, batteries in anticipation of a hurricane.  Another example.

Hi Cakers:

It's a bill in the Senate that supposedly would crack down on price-gouging by large corporations.

@SharkE I'm with you. I want to enjoy the food that I eat. I eat healty most of the time but once in a while if Wendy's cheese fries call to me, I'm going to eat them and not feel guilty about it.
