Nope; I buy online.

@Duckncover I just got back from my neighborhood Costco a half hour ago. Had planned to go today all week, and was xtra curious what I would find or not find after reading your post on shortages at your Costco. I found Lots Of TP...LOTS of paper towels...all brands including Kirkland.... LOTS of water including Kirkland brand...no limits on anything. Everything I went shopping for was available. They are now selling their own label( Kirkland) of Instant coffee too! Only $7.99 for a huge container.
Perhaps shortages are regional. The Costco I go to in Tukwila WA, (south center) is the largest Costco in the entire USA.

The candy aisle at Giant was decimated when I was in earlier this week. I know - not exactly "alert the media," but I thought it was curious.

@Johnnyeager wrote:No shortages here (yet.) Everything is Bountiful and in Abundance. Could be a good time to stock up.
And while there are surely some legitimate supply chain issues, it seems that it is becoming an all-purpose excuse for some poor management.
I agree, very poor management not to implement supply chain management long ago.
I’m from a large pork ‘producing’ state. Very recently laws have finally been passed for much more humane treatment of these animals. This and other such changes, such as better working conditions at chicken and beef processing plants, are going to drive up prices, and decrease availability.
These ‘legitimate’ issues, play a great part.

Our Sam's membership had lapsed while we were deciding who to sign up with. We chose Sam's again and they were fully stocked. Walmart too. Cat food has been an issue and whenever we are out anywhere, whether we need it or not, we look and pickup a few cans because we have way too many cats now and they must be fed daily....gave up with Chewy. We take care of all the throw-away kitties. ![]()

The only thing I cannot get at my local grocery store is turkey breast. We like to do summer thanksgiving dinner. My nice butcher there says he keeps trying on his order but all of the turkey breast are going to the big lunch meat companies before us. I know eventually they will get some in, I am patient ![]()

@Icegoddess wrote:Besides some of my favorite things being discontinued for whatever reason, the only thing I'm having trouble finding is Carbsmart ice cream bars with the crunchy chocolate coating for my husband. They have been iffy all summer though. I found out he also likes the Enlighten ones, but they, too, have gone missing.
I also buy CarbSmart ice cream bars and my store hasn't had hardly any lately. I am lucky if I find one box of the regular, smooth chocolate covered ones. Haven't seen the ones with the almonds in ages, nor have I seen the fudgesicle ones for a very long time.
I just figured it was that store, but maybe not.

I would guess that some people are panic buying and hoarding in places with high covid numbers and low vaccine rates. Psychological effect.
I've been buying a lot of popsicles this summer and I really like the 'Outshine' brand. They have sugar-free and sugared ones in myriad flavors. I really like the brand. Maybe, if you see those, it's a good choice?

@NEvans2 wrote:Once again it seems to be very random on what you can and cannot find at the store. I think the main problem is no one can find workers. Every occupation you can think of is scrambling for workers. Look at what's going on with Spirit Airlines. So yes, supply chain issues. If you don't have anyone to work in the factories or drive the trucks, you have a supply chain issue. I don't understand why there are so many jobs available, yet so many people still on unemployment. Well, I guess I do understand.
There are more reasons for shortages. Spirit airlines is saying most of the cancellations are weather related. If they were so short handed why would the flights be on the schedule in the first place. Sounds like bad planning. I know people who have flown southwest and had no issues. Not really sure what is going on.
@sunshine 919 The Spirit Airlines fiasco sounds like incompetent management that can't get their act together. What weather? No hurricanes, blizzards or floods that I've heard of.
Feel sorry for stranded passengers.
