There is always a reason why people act as they do. Lord, help me to be

more patient and understanding.

Scripture for the day:

"Through him you have come to trust in God, who raised him from the dead and

gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are set on God." ~1 Peter 1:21

Meditation for the day:

I can rely on God. I can trust God to the limit. I can depend on God's

power in all human relationships. I can wait and trust and hope, until God

shows me the way. I can wait for guidance in each important decision. I

can meet the test of waiting until a thing seems right before I do it. Every

work for God can meet this test of time. The guidance will come, if I wait

for it.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may meet the test of waiting for God's guidance. I pray that

I will not go off on my own.

Hello my friends! Today's blessing for me was seeing an old friend again -

she came over to pick up a couple CD's on Anger and Forgiveness from

Lighthouse. It was great seeing her again, and when I told her of my list -

she wants on there, so got her email address and I'm sending her samples of

what I do so she can choose what parts she wants. We have a lot in common.

Remember that course I took on the Marian Retreat - consecration to Jesus

through Mary? She took that too! We met at a retreat a lot of years ago.

A retreat that continues on and on, it's like TEC (Together Encounter

Christ). I've worked on several of those with my husband, and she did too.

We loved those retreats! It always brings one closer to God. I was even on

Team once with Linus and gave a talk together - it was on Prayer. I'm

taking pain pills less and less and that's a good thing! I don't think I'll

be getting any dry sockets. Praying for you all for all your needs and

thanks much for your willingness to pray for us.

HOW TO BE A GODLY EMPLOYEE

(based on the 10 Commandments)

1. Trust in God only.

Trust in no one but GOD. People will disappoint you. God created you and has

a wonderful plan for your life. He is too good to do wrong, and too wise to

make a mistake. Let His peace abide in you. (Proverbs 3 :5-6)

2. Worship God only.

Don't make your career, your company, or your boss a god. If you do, you

will provoke Him to jealously and will end up fighting Him. In fact, He may

hinder you from achieving what you want until you are broken of the

idolatry. (Exodus 20:5).

3. Use God's Name Reverently.

Don't swear!! Clean words come out of a clean heart! If your co-workers know

that you are a Christian, but they hear the Lord's Name used in vain, or

cursing and swearing from your mouth, you will give the appearance of being

a hypocrite. Matthew 15:17-19).

4. Work Six Days and Rest on the Seventh.

Before you beg for more vacation time, ask yourself a few questions, "Do you

honor the Sabbath?" God has already given you 52 days of time off that

equates to seven weeks. "Are your expectations for work, vacation, and

retirement realistic?" By resting one day a week, you can avoid burnout.

(Genesis 3:17-19).

5. Respect and Obey Your Boss.

You should respect and obey your boss, because you don't know what it's like

to be in their shoes. Plus, your ultimate boss is the Lord. Serve Him

faithfully on the job, and He will bless you. However, if your boss commands

you to do something illegal or immoral, you must make a stand and obey God

rather than man. (Ephesians 6:5-8).

6. Protect and Respect Human Life.

Emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual manipulation, abuses and violence

have no place in the workplace...or any place. You do not have the right to

use and abuse your boss, co-workers, employees, customers, or suppliers. (1

Thessalonians 3:1-2).

7. Be True to Your Spouse.

If you are not getting the kind of attention that you feel you deserve at

home, it's common to seek it with someone at work. Honor your wedding vows

by avoiding company romances! They are very tempting, very real, and very

common. They are also very wrong and very destructive. (Matthew 19:8-9).

8. Do Not Take What Belongs to Others.

Stealing at work can take many forms. You can choose to steal materials,

money, time, productivity , and joy from your employer and others. Do not

remove your integrity by stealing. (II Corinthians 7:1-2).

9. Do Not Lie About Others.

Do not fabricate stories about your boss, co-workers, and spread gossip for

the sake of company politics. You are here to be the salt and the light, not

the pepper and the darkness!! Truth always rises to the surface, and

eventually you will be ashamed and rebuked if you lie. (II Peter 2: 10-13 ).

10. Be Satisfied With What You Have.

Contentment doesn't mean that you cannot pursue God-given goals, but it does

mean that you are content with what He has provided you with, day after day.

Contentment is a rare quality in today's culture, but it is extremely

liberating! Materialism, striving for rank , backstabbing, and discontent

lead to emotional, mental, financial, and spiritual bondage. (I Timothy

6:6-11 ).

Recipe for a Happy New Year

Take 12 fine, full-grown months; see that these are thoroughly cleansed from

all old memories of bitterness, rancor, hate, and jealousy.

Cut these months into 30 or 31 equal parts. (This batch will keep for one

year. Do not attempt to make more than one batch at a time-many people spoil

the entire lot in this way.)

Prepare one day at a time as follows: Into each day, put 12 parts of faith,

11 of patience, 10 of courage, nine of work (some people omit this

ingredient and spoil the flavor of the rest), eight of hope, seven of

fidelity, six of open-mindedness, five of kindness, four of rest (leaving

this out is like leaving the oil out of the salad-don't do it), three of

prayer, two of meditation, and one of well-selected resolution.

If you have no conscientious scruples, add a teaspoonful of good spirits, a

dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of

good humor.

Pour love liberally into the whole, and mix with vim. Cook thoroughly in a

fervent heat. Garnish with a few smiles and a sprig of joy; then serve with

quietness, unselfishness, and cheerfulness-and a Happy New Year is a

certainty.

There´s No Christmas Without Jesus

There's no Christmas without Jesus,

It's to Him our eyes should see.

Not to jolly old Saint Nicholas

Nor a glitt'ring Christmas tree!

Shops in town are decorated

Decked in colors bright and gay

Tinsel lights and shapes created

Merge into one grand display.

"There's no Christmas without buying

Gifts and toys to give," they say.

Oh, that they should be realizing

All these things will fade away!

Santa Claus is just a story

Reindeer never pulled his sleigh.

Why then, does he get the glory

On this sacred, holy day?

But a baby in a manger

Really lived in Israel:

He was born to be our Saviour--

It's His story we must tell!

I will think of Christ this Christmas--

How He left His throne above,

gave up all His heav'nly riches

For to manifest His love!

Take the tinsel and the glitter

and the 'santas' all away

For God's love is far, far greater

Than this man-made grand display!

from Wexford Inspirationals

Mother Teresa Said...

It is easy to love those who are far away. It isn't always easy to love

those who are right next to us.

It is easier to offer a dish of rice to satisfy the hunger of a poor person,

than to fill up the loneliness and suffering of someone lacking love in our

own family.

Do not be afraid of loving to the point of sacrifice, until it hurts. Jesus'

love for us led him to his death.

+++

God pays attention to our love.

Not one of us is indispensable. God has the means to do all things and to do

away with the work of the most capable human being.

We can work until we drop. We can work excessively. If what we do is not

connected to love, however, our work is useless in God's eyes.

+++

All sicknesses have cures. The only one that cannot be cured is the sickness

of feeling unloved.

I invite all those who appreciate our work to look around them and be

willing to love those who have no love and to offer them their services.

Are we not, by definition, messengers of love?

Love is the product of every season.

+++

We have been created to love and be loved.

A young man was dying, but for three or four days fought to prolong his

life. The Sister there asked him, "Why do you continue this fight?"

"I cannot die without asking forgiveness from my father," he answered.

When his father arrived, the youth embraced him and asked forgiveness.

Two hours later, the young man passed away peacefully.

+++

What we say does nor matter, only what God says to souls through us.

+++

Good works are links that form a chain of love.

Lord, teach me to be open to Your Spirit

Lord Jesus Christ, I long to abide in your presence. You refresh my soul and

fill me with your light, although I don’t turn to you often enough or

exercise enough faith when I do remember you. But here I am now, Lord, ready

to spend a few precious moments with you in the room of my heart. I want to

pick up more readily on the inspirations of your Spirit. I want to be a

docile instrument in your hands to serve you and your Church.
