The Weather Channel had a program on two nights ago that I can't seem to get out of my head.

Sun flares are increasing in size and frequency. The only thing that protects the Earth from them is its magnetic shield, which is getting smaller and weaker all the time.

Scientists actually said that there is a one in eight chance that one or more powerful sun flares will destroy all of our space satellites, hit the earth and take out our entire power grid within the next decade . . . that it could be the "Apocalypse" that will end all life on Earth.

This was on The Weather Channel, not one of the science fiction channels.

I have always been the last one to get all out of whack over this type of programming and don't watch it. However, I went to The Weather Channel to check if another storm was coming our way (we've had them in the northeast every night for the last two weeks and they are projecting out at least another week of it). I was on the phone and didn't notice that this program had started and continued to watch it after I hung up. (I sure wish I hadn't.)

How do you handle this type of information? Pragmatically? A little concerned? Scared? Completely blow it off? I am usually pragmatic, but I can't seem to shake this one.
