Our Pastor's wife is having several of us ladies over for lunch Friday. I'd like to bring a small hostess gift. Suggestions? Thanks.

A nice bouquet of flowers, candle or maybe a gift card to the local bookstore.

Do you have a garden? Any fresh flowers, or herbs? Maybe even vegetables?

If she is a coffee drinker you can give her a variety pack of gourmet coffees.

@spent2much Flowers or a candle are good suggestions. I also appreciate when someone brings me a seasonal tea towel. Maybe something with a Fall theme. A good, more unusual jar of jelly or jam would be good, if she isn't on a sugar free diet.

@spent2much - I like @PA Mom-mom's suggestion of a seasonal tea towel. Is she younger or a little older? I would keep it small. If you know she does collect something, like teacups for example, you could take something related to tea. You can always go with a small box of chocolates. I know a lot of pastors, and I've never met one who wouldn't be happy if his wife received a hostess gift like that! ![]()

i hope you have a great time. I heard a pod cast the other day and the host was talking about how people really Cherish a hand written note. How about a nice set of note cards with matching envelopes, stamps and nice writing pen? Have fun!

@spent2much How about a homemade fresh fruit basket? You could get different types of fruit from the grocery store, maybe some cheese and nice crackers and put it all into a basket lined with tissue paper and wrap some cellophane around it and top with a bow. Another option is you can bake her some cookies and put them into a nice little gift bag with tissue or a cellophane bag with bows. Whatever you end up giving as a hostess gift, I'm sure you'll come up with something great and I hope that you have a very nice time at the lunch that she is hosting. ![]()

A nice candle is always good.

When I was a young lady my mom and her friends did lunch often. They would have lunch after coming back from going downtown to pay bills(can you imagine such a thing) I would help my mom when she was the hostess and I just loved that group of women. The last one in that little group passed away last year at 99! i remember thinking I hope when I become a grownup i will be able to be a lady that goes to lunch! Again, have a great time!!
