For all those gals who need shoe size 10.5 but are forced to swim in a size 11 when you can find the shoe you want in that size, I found a solution esp. if you are looking for a sneaker / trainer sneaker.
Tonight I went to a Sports Authority store and found a perfect pair of exercise / casual type shoe in the MEN's department. I found a simple unisex style shoe and it fit:
Size 9.5 medium width. The colors on the New Balance tie
shoe are: cream, rosy-tan, and a band of dark silver at the ankle.
( Picture couldn't be posted: too large )

@jlkz. If a shoe is slightly too large, as mine often are, I buy some cheap insoles at Walmart that are foam rubber and about .99 a pair. You cut on predetetermined lines to your shoe size. They fill up just enough room to make shoes fit. I find unisex sizes too wide in the heel.

I washed and saved the insoles from my EasySpirit clogs and used them with the women's 11's. I took my thin white low ankle socks with me to the store and they were perfect.
A few years back when I injured my metatarsal bone, the podiatrist recommended a thick orthotic-type liner for that foot until it healed.
How amazing, the men's department even had 10.5's !!! But more discrimination in the women's department though !

Glad you found a good fit. Now you know, most stores will order a pair in for you to try on. I had done that.
I am the proud mother of four, yes 4, bunions and am always searching for wides. The men's standard is a "D" so the wide is there, but the cut is a little different.
I have good luck on the New Balance or Merrell sites.

I wear a size 10 in sandals, clogs and sling backs but need a 10.5 in loafers, athletic or hiking boots. I have also discovered that a men's size 9 fits me pretty well although men's shoes are designed for a man's wider heel.
Hiking boots made by Keen in a men's size 9 fits like a 10.5 in women's on me. I have to wear thick socks, though, otherwise my heel can slip.
SAS (San Antonio Shoemakers) carry women's size 10.5 in all their styles. I have an SAS store near me but they rarely have size 10.5 in the store and I have to order them, they ship for free to the store and call me when they come in. But at least their athletic shoes fit correctly, narrower in the heel and wider in the toe box then a comparable men's size. SAS has a website, SASshoes dot com, and a few styles are on Amazon.

I also wear a 10 1/2 shoe but I find the men's size 9 Nike fit me perfectly, my foot is a little wide and so these do well. I think they even sell some 10 1/2 women's. You can go to their nike.com website. They can be pricey but they have some great sales, and I also look for them on eBay.
I like them a little roomy in width for a sock. I've also found Clarks 10 wide is a good fit for me.

I can identify! Have oftem ordered men's shoes. And I also have a lot of those insoles saved from my Easy Spirit shoes.
Thanks for the tip on the style you purchased!
