Re: 🤔Stuffing or Dressing

In my mind, if it's Stove Top, it's stuffing.  If it is made from scratch, it's dressing,

But I eat it all!

It's DRESSING  ... and we always put it inside the bird ... but make extra in those small pound cake size pans to freeze.

Re: 🤔Stuffing or Dressing

It was stuffing when it was "stuffed" into the bird but now it is dressing because it is cooked outside the bird.

It's stuffing, of course.

"Dressing." Bless their hearts. No, that's what you do before you come to dinner.

"Filling." No, that's what stuffing is. Filling.

And it better have sausage and onions in it, unless you're getting fancy and use oysters.

Stuffing for me.  As a kid I don't think my mom ever made extra in a pan, never saw that until recently.

I have heard both terms used all my life. Either way, I love it, ❤️❤️❤️

Re: 🤔Stuffing or Dressing

I don't have the answer to this, but my Gram called it dressing and it was delicious.

Rice, cooked gizzards, celery, onion, garlic, browned Italian loose sausage, turkey juices.

@sunshine45, same in our household.  I would be run out of town if I tried to put oysters or sausage in the "dressing".  LOL!  No one in my own family nor my husband's family uses either.  Funny how these things tend to be regional and based on what we had growing up.

And we call it dressing.  Both my mother and father's side of the family called it dressing.  Mother-in-law & father-in-law called it dressing as well.  All from Kentucky.   And we still call it dressing today.
