Student Led Conferences

Has anyone had any experiences with Student Led Conferences? Our son brought home a letter today that said conferences coming up at the first of February will be a new form called Student Led Conferences. The students tell the parents what they have been learning in the classroom, showing their work, and discussing what they need to work on. I Googled Student Led Conferences and readseveral articles. Our conference will be 15 minutes long, the teacher will be there but not participating, and if we feel we need an additional conference with her we can schedule a conference at a later time.
