Bless his frozen little heart. I hope he doesn't end up sick and I hope ya'll can get your car home soon. I'll bet you were scared to death. Blessings to both of you and please be careful.

He is at the Hoover Police station waiting for an update on when he can get back to I-65 and get his car. He was suppose to fly out today for Florida along with some colleagues who also are stranded here in the Birmingham area. Now I will see if the sun comes out and makes my driveway manageable to get my car out later this afternoon. Thanks for your best wishes.

According to the latest updates, it does not seem like we may not dig our car out until tomorrow on I65. DH and others at the Hoover Police station have walked to Waffle House for breakfast (probably a few blocks away). Got to keep eating LOL. Anyway, everyone in this storm please be safe.

So sorry you are experiencing this.

I have been stuck in WNY storms (once for two days!) and its not pleasant.

Its great he is off the road now, safe and sound.

Its during times like storms that we can all really appreciate our public servants who are there to help.

The Governor had issued a state of emergency here and had every available local, state department/national guard/etc. out all night helping individuals like my DH. Thanks.

Because this happens to you so seldom, I bet it is a lot more difficult for you to cope than it is for us.

We have hundreds of plows, emergency street routing for storms, huge piles of salt for the roads, etc.

When it hits down South, you don't have all those resources. About 10 years ago we had a bad blizzard during afternoon rush hour (just like you!) The most terrifying stories were about the kids stuck on school buses...it looks like some of that happened where you are.

I hope it warms up for you soon...

I will say that I have love reading about all of the snow-angels helping out others! There are such good people still in this world! Absolute heroes! #snowangels

Thankfully in the 5 years we lived in Montgomery it never snowed. (Love the city and the state btw!!).

So sorry you are experiencing this.

Saw the mayor of Birmingham on the news saying only a dusting was predicted - which apparently he believed - so they were completely unprepared for the resulting snow.

Sad for all those stranded. Prayers for everyone. Hope you DH gets home soon.

It was predicted to be more than a dusting so the mayor is responsible for his poor judgement and what resulted.

Oh, Hoovermom. I'm so sorry to hear that. No doubt he probably had to be on the road, or he wouldn't have. I live in Troy, AL. I woke up this morning to snow on the ground. I didn't think it would happen, but apparently it did.

Everybody stay warm and safe indoors.

You folks in the south are not used to this type of weather.. I am sorry you are going though this. Take care! This has been a very tough winter for all of us.

No we are not use to this type of weather and I always feel for you people up north with your brutal weather. Cannot wait for spring can we?

Be safe.. I wish there was someway we can help you folks down there. I will leave you with this thought only 50 days to spring time..... Take care!

You are so right. The Mayor of Birmingham sent some of the trucks they had further south for their use because the prediction was for them not us. DH is now on the Hoover Bus going back to I-65N to see if he can drive home. Wish him luck! Thanks for the good wishes.

Yes, there are lots of them helping each other out. They just found a missing man from Vestavia in a ditch and he was saved by those "snow angels".

In his defense and believe me, what everyone has gone through this is hard for me to say, nobody saw this coming from the weather people. It was suppose to be further South and within an hour it was too late....now if we can get everyone off the roads before nightfalls, that will be a great fete.
