My DH left Montgomery, AL @ 1:30 p.m. yesterday and still has not made it home. Normally this would take 1.5 hours. Thousands of people were stranded in their cars all along the interstates and major highways that run through my area. He went one mile in five hours and thankfully did not hydroplane or get hit from all of the accidents out there. Hoover Police picked him up on I-65N @ 2:00 a.m. today and took him to the "warming stations" at the Police Station. He left his car parked on I-65. I am sure it is a parking garage all over the city. Prayers for all of the travellers all over the country!!!

Re: Stuck in storm....(Alabama)

So sorry you are experiencing this.

I have been stuck in WNY storms (once for two days!) and its not pleasant.

Its great he is off the road now, safe and sound.

Its during times like storms that we can all really appreciate our public servants who are there to help.

I am glad he is safe.

The South is not equipped for extended freezing and icy roads. We have lots of closed roads, interstate and bridges in Northern Florida today.

Thankfully in the 5 years we lived in Montgomery it never snowed. (Love the city and the state btw!!).

So sorry you are experiencing this.

Saw the mayor of Birmingham on the news saying only a dusting was predicted - which apparently he believed - so they were completely unprepared for the resulting snow.

Sad for all those stranded. Prayers for everyone. Hope you DH gets home soon.

You folks in the south are not used to this type of weather.. I am sorry you are going though this. Take care! This has been a very tough winter for all of us.

Bless his frozen little heart. I hope he doesn't end up sick and I hope ya'll can get your car home soon. I'll bet you were scared to death. Blessings to both of you and please be careful.

The Governor had issued a state of emergency here and had every available local, state department/national guard/etc. out all night helping individuals like my DH. Thanks.

You are so right about that. I am home sick and saw how all of the bread and milk flew out of Publix LOL but that is how we do here in Alabama for any speck of snow. I am going to Florida on Friday and hopefully you will get better weather before I get there. Thank!!

We love Hoover and really have never seen this since 1986 when we got 16" of snow, but we knew it was coming and were prepared. Kids are still at some schools in the area because the buses could not make it to their homes. That would be hard for those parents. Thanks.

No we are not use to this type of weather and I always feel for you people up north with your brutal weather. Cannot wait for spring can we?
