Seems there's some possibility the woman who accused him of rape is not a truth teller. He's not off the prosecutor's hook, but he's out of confinement for now and free to move around NYC. No one is saying he's innocent, but the case is looking much less clear than first thought.
If it turns out there's no real truth to the charge, I'm going to be angry. Every false charge makes it more difficult for the women who are truly attacked to make their cases heard. And in the meantime, the accused attackers and their families are also changed forever -- just recently my local paper revisited three young soccer players accused of party rape. Even though the case fell apart, the emotional and financial costs were huge for the young men and their families.
I hate to wish someone is guilty of rape, but I also hate to wish she was was lying. Ugly, ugly situation from the get go.
