When there's no more Christmas stuff left, that's what goes out.  No store can leave empty shelves and they can't do a major floor move to fill up the seasonal space they have.

The CVS and Walgreens near me will have Christmas clear stuff and Valentine's Day stuff out at the same time beginning tomorrow, just in different aisles.  Then by mid January it will be Valentine's Day and Easter out together.

I went to two stores today trying to get candy. I thought they had moved it. The one SA told me the little they had left was by the register.

There were a few cards, and I saw very little wrapping paper.

I still need to get a few things tomorrow, in between everything else that needs to be done! It should be fun fighting the crowds for just a few things!  Smiley Wink

Most stores have specific space that's set aside for seasonal. Once one season sells downs the next starts to go out to fill the space. I worked in a CVS a million years ago and yes once Christmas sold down to the point that you couldn't spread it out to make it look good we'd condense it and start filling the space with Valentine's day. They aren;t expecting people to buy the Stover candy but they don't want the store to look like garbage.

The only other thing that a CVS would have enough quantity of to fill the space in some cohesive manner would be diapers or paper goods. And even a store that has better options wouldn't want to go through the work of filling and then taking it all back down. Valentine's isn't really that far away.

I always laugh when the stores are putting bikinis out on the floor on January 1!  Cat Very Happy

I was surprised by the bathing suits until I realized it was probably for people luckier than me who go on a winter vacation.

Bikini might be a popular item for a collegian on spring break in a warm, coastal climate.

Hobby Lobby has had Valentines, Christmas, and Thanksgiving stuff out at the same time for a few days....am sure they will squeeze in some St Patty's day things soon.
