@grandma r wrote:@Buffalogal47. The scumbag from Tennessee was interviewed. He said he didn't see anything wrong with what he did and would do it again. He said since he felt forced to donate the items, he plans to write off the cost on his taxes. He should at least be fined for his rotten behavior.
THat is just awful....he shouldn't be able to write it off as a business loss....don't you have to have more then rushing up hoarding goods to say it's a business? Maybe someone in the IRS will block it or flag it....just isn't right for him to get any of the money back IMO.

@grandma r wrote:Good!!! Happy to know the greedy jerks can't get their money back. For those trying to gouge prices, they should be fined and all of their stockpiles donated to the needy. And, no, they shouldn't be allowed to claim the cost as a loss on their taxes.
All of this. I love your plan. I'm sad that it will probably never happen that people like this have some kind of punishment, and this angers me. That last bit 'no claiming the cost losses' would be a fit punishment.

@Buffalogal47 wrote:@AngelPuppy1 : This has nothing to do with the virus. Most states have rules against returning prescription medicine. The pharmacy cannot take it back. At least you don't have to pay for it since it wasn't your error. If your community ever has hazardous waste disposal days, you can bring unused prescriptions in and they will safely dispose of them so they don't contaminate the water table.
I didn't have the prescription issue. That was another poster.

@Porcelain I wish, and I hope, that you are correct. Now we are looking at June for the shutdown to end, but I do not think that will happen, either.
Here's what I am referring to from experts at the Imperial College in London (see Report #9): https://www.imperial.ac.uk/mrc-global-infectious-disease-analysis/news--wuhan-coronavirus/?fbclid=Iw...

How would that even work? Three months of businesses being closed would put many of them under and leave countless people without incomes. That would require an awful lot of centralized planning and I don't see that happening anywhere right now. Who is working on this and considering how to handle all the fall out and collateral damage?

I stocked up on everything. I knew this was going to happen. My gut is always right. I won't be returning anything. It will all eventually get used so why would I take it back. We will be seeing all kinds of other shortages to come. We live in a smaller area so things were hard to find before this happened.
The ones that bought to resell at a huge profit should not be able to return their items. People that do that are disgusting. Thought never crossed my mind. I just don't think like that?

Our local Safeway isn't accepting any returns.

I totally get that but it would be nice if people returned some for the rest of us now.

I went to our local supermarket yesterday .... signs all over the store - no returns accepted.
