Store Mistrust

I was at a grocery store and bought an item that was on sale and in their weekly ad. However, the item scanned at the regular price. This was the sixth day of the sale so everyone who bought this sale item was overcharged or had to be paying attention to get it corrected.

Anyway, I could understand if it were the first day of the sale but not the sixth. I also can't think that I was the first person to notice so why wasn't it fixed? Could it be a deliberate attempt by the store to overcharge the inattentive?

Now I no longer trust that store and will be less likely to shop there and, if I do, will have to closely watch the prices of the items I buy.

Is this common? Are other stores so unconcerned about charging customers the right price or is this a method of making more money?
