Stock Market

I don't know anything about the stock market and too tired to read about it. Like the depression that hit in the 20's could there ever be a time in America in the next 20 years that news could hit and say BROKE........no checks are coming to anyone?

What could cause checks to not come to people all at once and is it possible? Does this question make sense?
