I am currently reading Joyland - OMG - so good...

I hope they make that into movie..

I enjoyed it -- a quick read. I have Mr Mercedes waiting for me on the kindle.

Mr Mercedes and Gerald's Game are also commissioned for movies. I am curious about Gerald's Game. I would think that would be ton of flashbacks, because 2 hours with a woman chained to her bed with her dead husband on the floor isn't that compelling to me!

LOL...definitely not compelling, no matter who the actress isSmiley Happy

My favorite author!

I just finished Mr Mercedes.

I think I heard The Shining is being re-made. Or was it The Stand?

Probably The Shining. He didn't like the movie. I didn't either.

I read that about his dislike of the movie too. While it wasn't as true to the book as it should have been, Jack Nicholson was very good in the role. He made it somewhat campy which was not true to the book, but for entertainment value, I liked it.

The Stand is my favorite all-time book. I think it was made into a TV mini-series which wasn't great. I'd love to see a well-done movie.

Re: Steven King interview on the view

I can't wait to see Big Driver (two hour movie on Lifetime, I think). It's based on a novella (short story) from the book Full Dark, No Stars.

I also hope they make a movie out of Doctor Sleep, which is the follow-up book to the Shining.

Last but not least, if you like Stephen King, be sure to read some of his son's books (Joe Hill); he learned from the master and his books are just as good, if not better, than his father's. I recommend Heart Shaped Box and Horns.

Campy is the perfect word. I didn't care for Jack or Shelly actually. I'd forgotten about the tv mini-series.

Thanks for the heads up about Big Driver and his son's books.

I will look for Joe Hill books for sure.

Do you have any idea when Big Driver is scheduled to air?

Re: Steven King interview on the view

I had a wonderful experience with Mr.King. When I was teaching 6th grade, one of my boys wrote a really good, really scary, short story. With his permission, I sent a copy to Mr. King's publisher, with a note to please pass it on to him, if possible. Several weeks passed, and my student received a hand-written letter, full of encouragement to continue to both read and write. My student was thrilled. I hope he knew how special that act was.

If not mistaken, Big Driver is set to air sometime in October.
