After 25 years, my Rowenta finally bit the dust.  Looking for a new one just for basic ironing.  Being retired, I'm lucky when things get ironed. Any suggestions.

Re: Steam Iron Recommendations

I swear by my Rowenta and would get another one. I also like the portable steamers depending on the type and amount of ironing that is done. I have a Rowenta and a mini My Little Steamer (HSN).

TWENTY FIVE YEARS....why would you even consider another brand?

Nothing lasts that long any more..

I used to have a Rowenta, but when it stopped working, I bought a Chi with retractable cord from Target.  I highly recommend it.   It's the best iron I've ever used.

Re: Steam Iron Recommendations

I swear by my old Sunbeam steam iron which I've had almost 40 years, having bought it at a discount warehouse for $12.  When I sew, it puts out more steam and can get hotter for my denim fabrics.  I imagine it'll last longer than I will.

I am now on my second Rowenta now. We have very hard water where I live, so a, now using distilled water in it like I should have in my first one....I will stick with this brand.

When it comes to toasters and irons, I buy the cheapest in the store.

I had a Rowenta, it didn't do any better of a job than my Black & Decker and it didn't last any longer.

Re: Steam Iron Recommendations

I wanted a Rowenta for so long and finally bought one.  I thought it was too  heavy and donated to a thrift shop.  Lighter weight irons are better for me.
