I think tomorrow evening after dinner we will ride over to the beach and watch the sunset.

I noticed the same thing last night, it was actually light at 6pm.

going the right way. Winter dark at 5pm is just to early for me.

Yup, that's the way the world works.  After Dec 21, the days get longer.  I looked out my window a little after 5 and it nice to see that it wasn't night outside.

It makes me happy. Locally January 21st is the bottoming out date where our average temp hits it's low mark for the year and we're now a full week into the warming up six months of the year. Between January 21st and July 21 st (or so) our average temps will slowly climb a bit each day, then on July 21st they'll top out and start the slow decline again. This is generally the optimistic part of the year for me. The daffodil foliage is popping up. It won't be long before the first crocus is in flower.

Re: Staying light later

[ Edited ]

Can not wait until early March when we move the clocks and it will be light until after 7.

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.

I know that means a lot to most normal people.

I guess I'm not normal, because I like when it gets dark early.

I'm a morning person, almost always up before the sun.  When it gets dark early I feel as if the universe is agreeing with me.

Me, too, @house_cat! I'm a morning person for sure. My friends think I'm nuts getting up at 4am every day. But have you noticed the sun is coming up sooner now? I don't mind that at all. Woman Very Happy

@house_cat and @SilleeMee, I like it getting darker earlier too.  I relate back to when I was a little girl and it would snow and at dusk with it snowing.. that was so pretty to me..

@SilleeMee

@Suziepeach

I do like the earlier sunrise.

I leave for work at 6:30 a.m. and I'd rather not drive in the dark.

@house_cat, when I worked I didn't like driving into work in the dark either.. if you're familiar with Atlanta rush hour traffic seems the darker it was the stupider people drove, LOL ..
