Status Whiplash— “Waitlist” to “Processing” to “backorder” ??

On 3/21 I ordered a waitlisted item. Two days ago I noticed a pending QVC charge on my card and the item was now “in process.” I logged back on now to see if tracking had been updated and now the order says “backorder.” The pending charge is still on my credit card.

Why did this happen and what does it mean? Is it likely that QVC will actually send me the item? I am a relative QVC newbie and haven’t experienced this before.

What you see is a pre-authorization charge to ascertain if your account is valid.  All merchants do it before extending credit.  It'll disappear in a few days, depding on your bank's policy.  It has nothing to do with the shipment of your item.
