I guess I don't understand this. Don't you all look at the person you are talking to? Do you have conversations with people and your eyes are wandering all over? I would find that to be off-putting, as if saying the conversation isn't enough to hold your interest.

for me its the way they stare...and not making conversation....its really hard to explain...I do look at those I speak to....but there is a difference between looking and staring...at least that's how I feel...

I always have "eye contact" when I'm conversing with someone. But I don't stare, or glare, at them. I can't stand it when someone's eyes wander, it makes them look uncomfortable (or maybe they're lying about something).

There's staring and then there's another kind of staring.

The really creepy kind is when they are staring at you but it's like they're looking right through you and not seeing you at all. That kind of stare might make the little hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

That's a sign of someone with a serious personality disorder and someone you should steer clear of.

She must be admiring your beauty, your impeccable manicure, your pearly white teeth, your shiny hair, your glistening skin, your gorgeous wardrobe, your elegant mannerisms. Take it as a compliment. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I wish I could lol. I'd like to think it's admiration but it's just very strange so I'm confused. She also stares at me in general.

Maybe she'll ask you out.

Guess I've been lucky in my life and never have had dealings with a ""starer.""

I worked with some "starers" when I was in FL for a year. It WAS an intimidation technique, and I avoided those people as much as I possibly could. {#emotions_dlg.glare}

I'm thinking that might be it. If it is then it's not working for her LOL.

The gals who did it were bilingual and they would speak in Spanish (about me). Many of the patients were bilingual, and they reported some of the conversations to the Practice Manager. We all had to wear nametags so names were named. {#emotions_dlg.w00t}

I can recall a starer or three in my past. One of them certainly was just sort of dumb, I think, and stared as part of her way of trying to understand something. I've also seen the "intimidation" stares from people. And there was a woman I worked with who did have a crush on me and would stare at me a lot. It was creepy, but I would just avoid her.

But I will never EVER forget the stare of a psychopath. You wouldn't either, if you'd ever experienced it.

The only staring incident I can recall is once I got on an elevator and there was only one other person in there. A HUGE man. He was staring at me intently. I was about 18 and he scared me to death. I didn't know what do do so I held up the sack in my hand and said ""hamburgers""
