Re: Starbucks laying off 1100 workers!

They are doing very well in my area, too.

In fact, they have one in our local supermarket near the exit, and another separate one in the same shopping mall.

Always busy.  Hoping they are doing well, as I like the idea of the beginning history of Starbucks.

I believe the first one was in Seattle?, but I'm not sure.

@CANDLEQUEEN They are not laying off store employ

ees, only corporate. I'm in WA state and this is all over the news.

I read the list of drinks they are dumping. I wouldn't touch any of them. The only Starbucks drink I like is the iced mocha frappachino.

@GingerHead They lay off is a real thing, not just reorganization.

We have 14 Starbucks in my city of about 100,000 population and recently 4 Dutch Brothers have opened here as well.  Never been to that one either.

Re: Starbucks laying off 1100 workers!

I put cream and sugar in my coffee so I don't really notice too much of a difference between brands like you probably would if it were black.  Except for one that I absolutely cannot drink and that's Starbucks.

The only place I would ever stop for a cup is Quick Chek, and the one right by me closed down. That stinks.

Oh, I know.....I wasn't saying it wasn't....

I was just saying they are re-orging

EDited to add@Love my grandkids  I was saying it was more of a reorganization than a closing or going out of business type of thing

Re: Starbucks laying off 1100 workers!

I just took a quick look at the Starbuck's logo history.

Excellent history and success, considering it was a 'one time, one place' business.

I'm wishing everyone at Starbuck's good luck.

Where I am in WA, I like Cutter's if I am going out, @Love my grandkids.  Otherwise I get a can of Costco's ground coffee.

Re: Starbucks laying off 1100 workers!

@Sooner   Yes, after all the "cost cutting" in the govt, I sat down and analyzed the hundreds of $$$ I'm spending on food each week.  I realized I'm not that "big" of an eater, so WHERE IS ALL THIS $$$ GOING??  I broke it down and started eliminating different items (like very expensive nut-based yogurts, $11.00 "boutique"eggs and $7.00 squash) and realized I could do without them.  I'm also more conscious of ordering items from Amazon (and the shopping channels) that catch my eye (like shoes) but stand a better than good chance of having to be returned.  I'm keeping my grocery receipts (on my bank transcript) and already saved $56. this week with no noticeable affect on my overall satisfaction.

@tansy I've heard of Cutter's. I'm not much of a coffee drinker but in the past I've liked McD's coffee and their iced coffee. Tried S's coffee one time decades ago. Yuck.
