They are also getting rid of a lot of items on their menus and downsizing those as well.
Everyone is hurting!!!! Lots of lost jobs too...

Starbucks seem to be doing very well in my area!
Several years ago they built a free standing Starbucks in the middle of my local shopping center's parking lot. Every time I go past there is a long line of cars....it doesn't matter the time of day.

I think it's more of a reorganization. I heard that they are getting rid of a lot of their menu (less popular items) just to more streamline things and get back to their roots of quick service.
With their growing menu has come longer waits, which is annoying to customers who just want quick coffee.

The food items used to be better. I would buy packages of the orange cranberry scones to keep in the freezer and the mini baguettes were good.

Starbucks's product is not worth the money. Have paid lots of money for bad tasting coffee. People are starting to see how much sugar and poor ingredients they are ingesting for a large cost. Starbucks is their own problem.

There are so many Starbuck's in my area. Those baristas do a good job and have to know how to make quite a few selections. I did hear the layoffs would not affect them but would corporate employees.

Seems to me like when we got rid of the excess of the 80's and 90's in the last century. People and businesses had just gone out of control and many people had to pare down and cut costs and excess.
I think we're sort of there now. We are in the mode of "Oh let's do that" "Oh we should do that" "Oh wouldn't it be nice" or "I'd like to have that"--without much thought about what the cost was.
Not just individuals either. I've had to stop and really look at my funds and say do I need that, or can I do that. At some point you have to do it.

I think they should go back to their root business of fewer offerings, quick service, and quality instead of quantity.
Maybe that is just what they are doing and I am on board if that is the case.
Too many businesses have gotten overblown IMO.

It's corporate employees that are affected. For now it's not in-store employees. Starbucks sales have been trending down. Remote corporate employees will be in the office now at least 3 days a week, another trend lately.
