Re: Starbucks' Cup Controversy

I can't even believe this is a thing. I usually try to save being offended for things truly offensive. Even my super relgious mother didn't understand what all the fuss was about.

A friend on facebook had a picture with a picture of a Chickfila bag and a Starbucks red cup. It said "So I just bought this Christian chicken sandwich and this Agnostic cup of coffee and gave it to an elderly homeless man standing in the rain on a street corner. The craziest thing happened. He was grateful and not offended at all! Probably because HE HAS REAL PROBLEMS!"  I thought that said everything that needs to be said.

I am not a coffee drinker so it isn't a place I stop at anyway but my husband said people should be more offended paying $5 for a burnt tasting cup of coffee.

Re: Starbucks' Cup Controversy

[ Edited ]

I don't know if anyone's searched for the Facebook page of the guy who started all this (and I'm not going to post the link), you might want to do so.

("facebook starbucks cup controversy" brings it right up)

Be aware, however, that his video starts immediately, and he has a loud, pushy manner, and an almost-grating voice like Tony Robbins.  (He also looks like an actor whose name I can't remember.)   He seems to be looking for fame.  Too bad he got more than 15 minutes.

He's overly forceful for this cause (and that's the least I can say about him).  Why people jumped on his bandwagon is mind-boggling.

I think we all know that people who are secure in their beliefs and in who they are don't need to create public controversies to support their so-called cause.

Re: Starbucks' Cup Controversy

When I first heard this I thought "Wait.... really??"  First of all I think that they're "just cups" as someone put it upthread and that's all they are.  THEN I started thinking about it.  I usually buy a Venti and when I could drink them I'd get a mocha coffee with whipped cream and some chocolate drizzle on top and the cost was over $4.00 at the time!! Then I thought boy that's a lot of money for a cup of froth with a little coffee in it... YES... there should be something else on those danged cups... maybe a reindeer or a string of lights drawn on them.  Something a little more festive than a green disposable cup!

So yes, for the price of these cups of froth with a little drizzle and dab of coffee..... dang well should have more festive decorations on them!  Woman WinkWoman Wink

I have to totally disagree because in one way or another it affects all of us.  Not to change the subject, but it includes marriage, what's written in textbooks and the rights of women.  It doesn't stop with a paper coffee cup.

Re: Starbucks' Cup Controversy

'I don't know', I think that red and green cups are just fine during the Winter/holidays.  Keep it plain, keep it simple.   Too many designs all year long equals more expensive coffee prices for customers.  If customers HAVE to have special designs, snowflakes and/or candy-cane gingerbread houses, etc. would be less controversial. Just thinking, though.........

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Waving hi to Noel! Smiley Happy

Please be my guest and disagree all you'd like and I'll do the same. This cup controversy doesn't affect me in the least. In fact, as far as I'm concerned they can put Satan on the cup. As long as he isn't drinking my latte, I'm cool.

Re: Starbucks' Cup Controversy

Strange how many on this board who don't want to bother or wouldn't fuss about such a thing, are actually the ones making quite a large fuss about it all and care quite a bit and are so offended.
