@ROMARY wrote:I think Happy Holidays is nice. Everyone around here seems happy about that. . p.s. I place Chinese New Year cards on several doorsteps around here. And even write the Chinese words, because many of the grandparents don't speak English; but we manage to sign to each other. (We look up at the sun and do the 'thumbs up' sign on a nice, sunny day, etc.) The grandparents sure teach the very young grandchildren to wave hello, blow kisses to me as I walk by. Warms my heart.
I too wish Asian friends, co-workers and the staff in shops & restaurants a happy new year each February - and I get smiles in return - they appreciate the thought.

I think some people just have a hard time understanding differences and coming to terms with the fact that that we don't live in a homogeneous society, which we never did anyway.
Some people have decided they choose not to acknowledge this. The whole "war on Christmas" thing goes right along with being "against" anything or anyone different than they are. They find it threatening.

All the while, being free to say Merry Christmas, go to church, and being able to worship in the church of their choice.

@Apple Head wrote:This "big" news story about the cups at Starbucks not being "Christmas enough" this year is ridiculous.
What do the ultra religious want, Jesus Christ on the cups?
There is a lot more things to complain about than the artwork on a cup. Not all Starbucks' customers celebrate Christmas. What would they say if the owner this year had only Hanukah cups?
I think when people can truly share the love that Christmas is supposed to be all about and be there for their fellow neighbors who are down and out or reach out and help someone or just be loving to each other, that is more important than the design on a dam@ cup!
Oy! Here we go with this again.
What about people of the Jewish faith?
Why not just say "Happy Holidays", which is inclusive, of all faiths, and of those who don't celebrate, as opposed to saying, "Merry Christmas", which is exclusive, of those who aren't Christain?
Isn't that a nicer thing to do?
Best suggestion I have read on this thread!

The Skinny latte is fabulous, as is the Mocha latte and the Eggnog latte. I haven't tired others.

Couldn't agree more. Someone called it Charbucks the other day and it's a perfect description. It's not that the coffe is too strong, it's that every time I order plain coffee, it tastes burnt. Some things are good, the coffee...not so much.

I would say that if you are unsure of someone's religious beliefs, it is best to say Happy Holidays or have a fantastic holiday! I personally don't care, I am not religious, so it doesn't bother me when said in the spirit of things, but some people could be deeply religious and overly sensitive to that.
