@SeaMaiden wrote:OMGOSH! 80 degrees today in Seattle! Hottest first day of spring on record! Going from 40 degrees to suddenly 80 degrees is a shock to the system....at least mine!
When I was 7 year old, I wrote this poem and still remember the words all these many years....it is not very good....remember this is a 7 year old....😄
Spring Is Here.
Spring Is There.
Spring Is Even In The Air.
I Can fell It in My Nose.
Because It Tingles Like My Toes!
And The Bees Come Out, And Make People Scream.
That's How I Know This Is SPRING!
@SeaMaiden.....Thanks for posting this. That's pretty good for a 7 year old. And going from 40 to 80 is quite a change. Enjoy your weather.

hey Show Me
is this the new thread for what are you doing today???
listening to news /weather this afternoon. we are going from spring back into winter. heavy rain beginning tonight for about 24 hours, then heavy winds, then warm up by early next week it will be only in the mid 30's highs for days. we are regressing, not warming up. I do remember one year it didn't warm up till mid June then we had a heat wave that lasted all summer long.
not much else going on. see all later.

@viva923.....NO, am posting on the other one too. This was only because it is the first day of Spring.
Doesn't sound like good weather moving in to your area. Get those walks in when you can.

@libbyannE wrote:It will be just over 50 today and in 60s later in the week. The lake ice is thin, but I see open water around our shore, but overall, I am still looking out to a white lake. Birds singing. I will miss winter, but spring is definitely here. I spent an hour or so on one of our screened porches today!
March here in the north is different from what I knew as a child in the St. Louis ‘burbs. I imagine you have green things sprouting! No sign of that where I live.
@libbyannE......Yes, it is a lot different now in the "burbs". It is much different now than when I first moved here from San Antonio in 1957. Climate Change is doing its thing on us....and is alive and kicking.
Not a lot sprouting yet. No Forsythia yet, usually one of the first of the season. But some of the trees are starting to get buds....still a way to go though. No grass turning green yet either.
It’s been a difficult, unusual winter. Until just a few years ago, we were there for my dad’s late Feb. birthday, and I was often surprised to see things sprouting then. I left for college in late ‘60s so I haven’t really lived there for a long time, but the roots in the city and county are deep, and home is always with me.

Hopefully, here comes the sun. I want to get my raised beds ready for my greens. It wasn't that bad of a Winter where I live, but I prefer to see the sun shine even if it's bitter cold.

I live in Colorado. This place is made for winter and that's why I live here. I will miss winter...my favorite season.

@libbyannE.....That's the way it used to be....but not anymore. Happy to read that you still feel it as home to you. That is important....especially when we start getting older. May I ask what part of the "burbs" did you live in???
That's the way I am with San Antonio. Lived there until I was 17 (1957), when I moved here. But still look at it as home.....and the city has changed so much. Don't know my way around at all.
